1.4x Magnification - MPN: AF14C700
Strengths: Price
Weakness: black not white barrel
Only half price of the Canon 1.4x. I don't have a chance to compare with Canon. It did give you a decent image in sunny days and keep auto focus. But it slow then. Remember you will lose light. My 70-200mm F/4 become F/5.6. So it is not for low light conditions. Tamron has also a SP version with white barrel.

Tamron AF14C-700 Tele Converter Lens
Strengths: Light weight, solid built, adds needed extra magnification for wildlife photos, inexpensive
Weakness: none I can think of
This 1.4x converter does degrade the image quality of my f/4.5-5.6 telephoto lens slightly. I knew this before purchasing it, so no surprises. However, I am pleased with the quality of the photos with this converter. I do not demand tack sharp images(as the pros do). Nor do I have the money invested in my equipment necessary to take tack sharp images. For the money spent on both this converter and my prime lens, I'm satisfied. Hope this helps.
