Washburn DK20CET Acoustic- Electric Guitar
Playability, value, sound.
Minor cosmetic defects, plastic tuning machine cranks.
Posted Jun 27, 2006 - You will hard pressed to find a better guitar in this price range. The sound without any amplification is full and rich. The spruce top and the mahogany body make for a warm acoustic sound. One thing I had to do was lighten the string guage. The supplied strings were much too heavy to be easily playable. With a modified set of strings it was more fluid. The neck has an electric feel like many of my Gibson electrics. The intonation and action are as good or better than guitars costing 10 times as much. There is no buzz even with the lighter strings. The bridge needed no adjustment at all. The built is tuner is an added plus. The preamp has controls for volume, treble, bass and presence. They provide just the right amount of tonal variation. The amplified sound is quite good with no squeal or feedback. The package includes a quality padded Washburn gig bag case with straps. It also includes a guitar strap, picks, truss rod wrench and lessons on DVD. The major issues with the guitar are minor cosmetic finish flaws. There are a few lacquer bubbles and imperfections that could have easily been corrected during the inspection process. The Washburn warranty will cover repair of these flaws since they were acknowledged by the dealer at the time of shipment.
