Strengths:Complex, realistic transformation
Weaknesses:Rear parts doesn't hold together well in robot mode
Posted Apr 14, 2008 - The Optimus Prime Movie Leader class figure is well constructed. The complexity in the transformation is high. The instruction manual is not very detailed, and doesn't show you exactly how the parts should move together in order to transform. It took a considerable amount of time and trials and errors to do the complete transformation.
The figure features auto-morph technology: parts move in tandem during transformation with the use of gears, etc.
The truck mode looks pretty realistic to the one in the movie. The button on the top of the truck triggers the honk and flash lights. The gun snaps at the back of the truck. One problem is that all the wheels may not line up perfectly on a flat surface.
The robot mode is pretty cool, but don't look entirely the same as the one in the movie. There are a couple of problems in this mode. The parts that go to the back of the robot do not hold well in their positions. The front panels at the front of the truck that spread out to become part of the feet don't snap in securely.
Despite the problems mentioned, the figure is pretty well designed and constructed. I would only recommend this to older children because of the complexity involved. Any Tranformers fan would love this figure.
