Posted Feb 17, 2008 - I used to sell Gallien-Krueger gear years ago when I was in the music business. The company has a history of innovation and making great sounding amplifiers to fit various markets. The 1001RB-II is a winner. It is second from the top of the line and has enough power under the hood for most any size venue. It is 2 rack spaces high and weighs in at 22 pounds. The outputs range from a pair of 1/4" standard speaker outs that can power a single 4 ohm cabinet, or two 8 ohm cabinets. It also has Speakon outputs that are 4-conductor for the higher-end GK cabinets. This output is designed to run both the 700 main amp to the woofers, and the 50 watt amp to the horn. The Bi-amp abilities are excellent. The head also has loads of controls for responsive tonal variation, and there are many outputs placed conveniently on the front of the unit to make it easy to take to the gig or studio without having to fish around for the right slot. GK has done a great job on this head. The tradition inspired by the Legendary 800RB model lives on with an added contemporary twist.
