Posted Oct 7, 2006 - Just switched to DISH TV and wanted to mount my older Terk Stealth-Tena...but it's just too heavy for the mount that holds the DISH TV. Bought the EZDish omni-directional and tried that; not at all happy with the signal strength (picture). The HDTVO is just right....light weight...and great signal strengths. Why pay DISH TV $5.00 per month and still NOT get HD TV? This IS the way to go folks!

HDTVO -- lots of performance in a small package

Posted Mar 21, 2007 - I had been looking for some time for a SMALL HDTV antenna that would have the ability to pull in digital stations (approx. 30 mi. from our home) without having to have a LARGE array on the side of my house, or mess with an attic installation. The Audiovox (Terk) HDTVO Outdoor HDTV antenna does a great job. It installed within minutes. I get great signal (the amplifier is simple and easy to use -- and the signal can be split after the amplifier). As far as directional sensitivity goes, I 'eyeballed' it, without using a compass or anything and it worked great!! I was surprised to find that here (in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area) there are also a number of digital subscription stations (such as ESPN, etc.) that can be had over the air (a converter box is needed). This was something I did not expect. This little antenna puts a lot of performance in a small package. I would highly recommend it to all.

Great Antenna for Attic

Strengths:

Easy to mount - Picks up lots of digital and analog channels - UHF and VHF - Amplified, for long cable runs - Works in all weather conditions - Can be hidden in an attic, and still works.

Weaknesses:

Big and Ugly - Needs a discreet location - Wiring needs to be run

Posted Oct 25, 2007 - I purchased this when I got a digital LCD TV with digital tuner, as I did not want cable, and the over the air is 1080i quality (better than cable). My old rabbit ears worked OK, except in bad weather, when the digital transmission broke up. Luckily I have an attic crawl space with a gable wall facing the broadcast antennas 10 miles away. This antenna fits very well there and was easy to bolt to a rafter with the included hardware. Its easy to setup with a compass and the adjustment is sturdy (You can get the compass angle to the tv stations from your street location on the internet). The amplifier allows for long cable runs. Its a pain to run the cable through the walls, but the results were worth it. It works great in all weather and even brings in the analog stuff well.

Strengths:

Excellent reception. Modern design.

Can't be used on aluminum siding. Short mast.

Posted Feb 21, 2008 - HDTVo is not your average outdoor antenna. Besides it's modern design it provides excellent reception, even in rural areas. There were other antennas advertising 90 mile range, it only picked up 1 channel. I was skepitcal about getting the HDTVo since it only had a smaller range. It was a one directional powered antenna and has a wide array so I gave it a try. As long as you aim towards the metro area where the main stations, you'll be able to pick up all your local channels with ease. This antenna is also zoned up to: BLUE providing long range reception.

Finally I'm happy!

Strengths:

easy installation, light weight, and good reception

Weaknesses:

Nothing, but it's be nice if a small compass is added to help with pointing the antenna to the right direction.

Posted Feb 16, 2006 - I live in a suburb near SF. My apartment is about 28 miles away (according to antennaweb.org) from the major radio tower that carries signals of local NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and PBS stations. I tried one Radioshack indoor/outdoor amplified atenna, one RCA indoor atenna, one Terk indoor (HDTVa), and one Terk outdoor (HDTVs). The Radioshack one always had some stations missing; the RCA and Terk HDTVa didn't really work; and Terk HDTVs looks nice but didn't pick up every station I wanted. Finally I got this HDTVo and installed it on the wall facing the radio tower. The height is just over 6'. In order to orient the antenna to the correction direction, I bought a 10-dollar compass from Big5 sporting goods. For the first time, I got all stations from that radio tower! Where I live has many many trees, plus several tall buildings around, so I'm happy that I can get all stations without climbing up to the roof (and in fact it's not allowed to do so in my apartment building). With HDTV programmings for free, I'm seriously considering canceling my cable service that does not provide HDTV signals. Currently I can get HDTV programming from about 8 network and independent stations. I'm thrilled to watch the Winter Olympics, Jay Leno show, and American Idol in HD! On the other hand, I think the Radioshack indoor/outdoor model ($49.95, white, plactic, amplified, not shown on their website yet) and Terk HDTVs ($149.99) are also good, as long as your residence is not too far from the tower and surrounded by tall trees, and you take your time to fine-tune the orientation of these compatc antennae. The Terk HDTVs is actually very good-looking in my opinion. In sum, I'm very happy with this purchase ($119 from Bestbuy). If you don't want to waste time orienting a small indoor antenna in your living room, Terk HDTVo could be a quick fix.

price. shop around and you can get a good deal.

Posted Jun 18, 2007 - I installed the antenna in the attic about 25 miles from the Buffalo, NY stations and 40+ miles from the Canada stations. I was surprised to find it worked great. I might move it to the outside wall of the attic to pickup more (or better quality) stations. In the attic is nice however, so that I can adjust the direction. It's a directional antenna so which way its pointing matters. Shop around for the best price. The design looks better and is easy to handle and setup compared to the standard bulky antennas. it's a 2 thumbs up.

Terk HDTVo Antenna

Strengths:

Good reception, even when not amplified

Weaknesses:

A little bigger than you'd expect from a picture

Posted Feb 14, 2008 - The antenna is a semi-circle about 3 ft in diameter. It s designed to work in a blue spectrum as defined by antennaweb.org. It is easy to assemble and install and works as advertised. I mounted it in an attic, although it can me attached outdoors as well. It can be used with enclosed amplifier.
