3 Star Review McAfee Total Protection

Strengths:

Full package

Weaknesses:

Only covers one computer

Posted Sep 25, 2007 - I bought this one earlier this year and was fairly satisfied with the results. I had no problem loading it on to one of my computers and it seemed to run smoothly. I noticed a little bit of lag in my computer's performance, but not horrible. My only complaint is that this version only covers one computer which is my own fault. It is a complete security package and for a one computer home, it would be sufficient.

Strengths:

McAfee name and multiple programs as part of a software suite

Weaknesses:

Another McAfee product that hogs resources and has questionable performance

Posted Sep 24, 2007 - I'm using a WinXP SP2 computer with 2gigs of RAM, and this is another McAfee product that doesn't live up to the good memories I had of its older products. Total Protection 2007 really seems to slow down the computer and I ended up trying to disable more of the software options than use them. It does *kinda* work but I wouldn't buy this product again. I think McAfee should reevaluate what made their older software successful and try incorporating that back into their newer line.

Posted Sep 23, 2007 - This product is pretty good, auto-updates and it's all inclusive, blocks hackers, viruses, and spyware. Can't really complain about it since I got it for really cheap (free after rebate).

Posted Aug 20, 2007 - Macfee Total Proection the name says everything. This is one of the best software of Mcafee. It gives your PC total protection with Virus, fraud sites etc. I didn't had any problem while installation, very easy to install everything was mention in guide. This product i purchase at a great price. Overall I am very much satisfied with product. No complains at all.

3 Star Review Okay..... better softwares out there

Everything under one roof

eats cpu, runs slow

Posted Aug 18, 2007 - I like Mcafee products. everything under roof sounds nice however it doesn't work that great. It takes whole lot of CPU while running makes the computer slow unless you have dual core with faster processor. Though, it does what its supposed to do. I like some other security products more than this.

Strengths:

It does catch all the spam mail and internal sproof.

Weaknesses:

Take so long to run the program after the window start.

Posted Jul 20, 2007 - Over all. I am satisfy this product even thought it may takes a while for run this program after the window start. It does what I need. However, the price may be too high. If the price can go down little bit, I bit you this product is good buy!

hard to navigate through the menus, small windows, difficult to navigate, use lots of resources

Posted Jul 19, 2007 - the good is McAfee Total Protection includes lots of tools you need -- antivirus, antiphishing, antispyware, and antirootkit protection, as well as wireless security. Have not try the wireless part yet, but the rest work OK. now the bad: it is hard to navigate through the menus, small windows, difficult to navigate, slow to load as it use lots of resources

Posted Jul 18, 2007 - Mcafee total protection 2007 give a 10 in 1 protection which is the best advantage of it.The wireless network feature seemed pretty easy, the scan and upadtes are working fine. Great for one stop resourse. Boot takes a little longer time. but Still runs faser and on DSL.

Very comprehensive product

Slow operations, expensive, irritating warnings, confusing naming

Posted Jun 22, 2007 - Mcafee has so many products with somewhat similar names that it becomes confusing to know what you are reviewing, for example, they have this one, and then another product called PC protection Plus. At any case, this is the most comprehensive package I have ever seen--it does everything from virus protection to firewall to backing up your files. Price could have been better, but that is not the main problem I have with this product. First, it makes start-ups very slow, and when you are upgrading or scanning, you can forget about using your computer, for it won't respond. I am not sure why the programmers aren't using intelligent commands so that it doesn't take up that much resource or even if it does, it should do that at a time when you are not using the computer. When I use my PC, I don't want to wait for ten minutes for the program to do its job. It just makes you want to uninstall the product, and try something else. Also, the popups when you are installing something can become irritating; again, not a smart design--the software should be able to decide whether the action you are executing is bad or not. I have tried to use it for a week, and have given up, and uninstalled it. And I won't recommend it to anyone.

Strengths:

all-in-one and complete security platform and threat protection service.

Weaknesses:

Price is little high.

Posted Jun 17, 2007 - It protects from anti-virus, anti-spyware, and software firewall features that are typical of most PC security suites. It also protects from anti-spam and anti-phishing features for email and instant messaging. The wireless component prevents from other neighbors to use your network. Parental control offers some peace of mind to parents who want to make sure their kids don't end up in the wrong internet neighborhoods

Strengths:

easy to install, a very all-around PC protection software

Weaknesses:

quit expensive if you buy it in the full price ($69.99), only 1 year subscription which needs to be renewed, the 1st scan for my computer took a couple of hours (too long!!!)

Posted Jun 13, 2007 - I got this at Staples for free after rebate ($69.99). It is very useful for blocking and removing the spyware and trojans. It is an effective software. Installation is quick and easy. I did not know there is such a great software out there. It exceeds my expectation. I think everyone with a computer should get one. It will save you for a lot of $$$ in the future by preventing those virus attacks. I am very satisfy with it and so will you.
