Simply the best anti-virus

Strengths:

Easy installation. Daily automatic updates. Unobtrusive. Finds stuff the others don't

Weaknesses:

You often need to fight for your rebates.

Posted Dec 24, 2007 - I'll leave the testing to the pros. There are a multitudes of reviews that consistently rank Kaspersky as the cream of the crop. Kaspersky came out of nowhere a couple years ago to take the AV crown away from Norton. For me, Kaspersky is an easy-to-use program with lots of customizable options for an advanced user. It found stuff in archives Norton missed. It's set it and forget it, as it should be. My only caveat is that they make poor choices on rebate fulfillment companies, while Norton is as easy as pie. I've had to fight for a couple of their rebates; otherwise, I'd be awarding 5 stars.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0

Strengths:

Top-notch anti-virus protection. Clear and straightforward interface. Hasn't let a single piece of malware through.

Weaknesses:

Initially slow scans, but speeds up after continual usage.

Posted Dec 6, 2007 - After much satisfaction with KAV 6, I decided to upgrade to KAV 7. Since then, my happiness with Kaspersky has only continued. It continually catches any malware that you might throw at it, and with the web anti-virus component, doing so even before being saved to the hard drive. And even if it slips past web anti-virus, file anti-virus and its improved heuristics certainly will. With continual Advanced+ ratings from AV-Comparatives.org, I can surf the Internet knowing that KAV 7 is among the creme de la creme of on-line protection.

Small footprint and fast

Posted Dec 21, 2007 - Provide good protection and has less impact on user's computer experience. Frequent update keep the PC well protected of newer viruses. Easy to use and the thing of all is it is free (after rebate). Wonderful product and highly recommend it!

Best of the big name brands

Strengths:

Low memory profile (read: won't slow your system down as much as Norton or McAfee); price; frequent virus definition updates

Weaknesses:

iSwift technology might be a problem

Posted Dec 7, 2007 - Kaspersky's reputation is spreading as people are breaking free of the long-established brands such as Norton and McAfee. Most of this is because people are starting to see the latter brands for what they are--bloatware. What's the point of protecting your computer from viruses with a program that slows things down as much as a virus would? While Kaspersky is just recently becoming mainstream, it has long been known by enthusiasts as an antivirus solution that is lightweight and not resource-intensive. The only negative aspect with this version is that the iSwift technology--which is designed to speed up system scans--may in fact be altering individual files. I haven't read too much about the problem as I am not experiencing any issues myself, but do a google search and see for yourself before buying.

Posted Oct 21, 2007 - I've been using Kaspersky for a long time now, and I love it. It's not a resource hog like other programs are, and it's one of the best I've ever used. It's a little pricey, which is probably it's only downside.

Complete protection - Cripples Machine

Strengths:

Very complete protection, that is updated faster than any other service. Offers protection against Cyber Crime.

Weaknesses:

Crippled my machine, constant pop-ups to warn my IE and Excel .exe files had changed. Slowed my Athlon 64x2 3800 to a crawl.

Posted Oct 12, 2007 - The only way to uninstall is through Start/Programs/Kaspersky/Uninstall. I would love the fabulous protection, but need to be able to use my machine. I am using separate solutions for Virus/Worm, Spam, Adware/Spybots. I am the victim of Cyber crime about once a year, and my Credit card takes care of it.

Very good antivirus product

Strengths:

hourly automated update, powerful antivirus tool

Posted 1 year ago - I've been hearing good reviews about Kaspersky antivirus products and I finally got this one and decided to give it a try. The installation was easy and it removed the previous antivirus program automated. The virus database is updated for 2-3 times everyday and all is automated as long as the internet connection is on. So far, there is no virus reported and I'm pretty happy with it.

Top of the Line

Strengths:

Posted Feb 27, 2008 - I switched over to Kaspersky (from Norton) based on recommendations from some tech friends. I was surprised at being able to purchase this at a significant discount after a mail-in rebate and was reassured that this was indeed a top-notch product. After a somewhat lengthy installation and initial virus scan, I soon forgot that it was silently protecting me in the background. There was no noticeable slowdown of my machine and the software automatically updates itself daily. I'm pleased with my switch and highly recommend it to others.

Excellent Anti Virus Software for personal PCs

Strengths:

Frequent Updates(Hourly & Daily & Seemless), Very Fast scanning compared with any other AV softwares. Best price with promotions. No Compatibility Issues.

Weaknesses:

Haven't seen any issues so far.

Posted Feb 26, 2008 - I had this Anti Virus Installed on my desktop for around 90 days and i haven't had any issues. I tried using other Antivirus before getting this, and i see significant time difference in entire system scan. It took 1/3 of the time to complete my system scan compared other AntiVirus softwares. It doesn't have any compatibility issue with my Firewall. Excellent AntiVirus for my VistaBusiness 64Bit.

Anti-virus software

Posted Dec 10, 2007 - The reason I like to use Kaspersky is due to the well-defined virus code and excellent protection from viruses. And it doesn't occupy as much memory as Norton to perform this software. Only small problem with software conflict which I can take. Definitely recommend Kaspersky to you

light weight, easy to setup, high performance, a lot of features for fine tuning

Posted Dec 8, 2007 - I used to use mcafee with windows XP. While it works well most of time, i hate it as it often takes a lot of time during the startup of my system. I decided to give kaspersky a try when it comes for free after rebate. Wow, What a differnce! now I do not want to go back with mcafee anymore.

Good software

Strengths:

Provides better protection than my other AV programs. It is flexible that I can controal and fine tune how it works. And it did not hogging all my computer's resources.

Weaknesses:

Doesn't work with other firewall program, Zone Alarm 7 being one of them. Tech support is weak. I cannot find phone number or E-mail support info on their web site.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0

Strengths:

One of the best AV that I have ever used so far. And I got for free after rebate. So that's an added bonus.
