5 Star Review Excellent disk back-up utility

Strengths:

comprehensive tools make back-up quick and easy

Weaknesses:

takes some time to learn

Posted May 19, 2008 - Still the best way to make a streamlined and exact back-up process for your data security goals. If you don't have this type of software, back-ups take forever to capture all of the data items from emails to docs. I do complete back-ups monthly and this software makes it a snap to achieve.

5 Star Review Great for Imaging

Strengths:

Complete imaging and back-up software

Weaknesses:

None yet

Posted 1 year ago - Great for constructing a complete image of your hard drive or backing up select files or folders. GUI is very nice and intuitive to use. Complete help documentation is provided within the software. Remember, if you have system problems, creating an IMAGE will transfer the problems to a new or clean drive. It is best to backup files a restore them than transfer an image.

1 Star Review Superb products...if and when they work...

Strengths:

Excellent functionality and performance.

Weaknesses:

Support is terrible. Days and weeks can go by without a reply. The WORST support I have ever seen from a software vendor.

There are gliches in almost every release but once you get through them, the software works well and for the most part is trouble free...BUT...the support is awful. If you're a novice or casual user, stay away from this heartache.

1 Star Review Good when works, awful error management

Strengths:

Full Disk Image and File Backups

Weaknesses:

Fails to read files sometimes, and pops up error messages which stall the backup

Posted 4 days ago - This software doesn't work well for me. My drive is fine, according to all diagnostics and I have no other problems with it. I've been using Acronis backup for 2 years, and am fed up. It has frequent problems reading one or two files, and instead of logging the error and continueing the backup, it pops up a message on the screen and waits for user interaction. So, backups that should run overnight frequently have to finish while I'm on the computer (poor performance). I'm switching to a different product.

3 Star Review It does not do what it supposes to do.

Strengths:

It's a true backup and can restore 100%.

Weaknesses:

It backup everything; not only data and included blank space too!

Posted 1 year ago - I have used it to backup my data and it can restore 100%. But it does have it's weakness; backup 100%, included BLANK SPACE! I have a 160G HDD and it's data size only 15G. I backup my data and I thought it backup my 15G data. Recently I tried to restore my data on a 60G HDD and it couldn't! I thought it's a bit funny why I could not restore it. It only has 15G size and it should fit in the 60G HDD without problem.. I was wrong, it was asking a 160G HDD to be restored! I'm very disappointed that it does not do what it supposes to do; back up DATA ONLY! Not the blank space..

5 Star Review Industrial strength disk imaging

Strengths:

From what I have read, more dependable that version 10. Worked flawlessly the first time on my XP machine

Weaknesses:

None

Posted 1 year ago - Finally I am not afraid of backups anymore, with the advent of cheap external hard drives, and programs like this. Disk imaging takes up space, but with huge external drives, who cares how many complete drive images you have? I don't, and will never again worry about a dead primary drive. True Image installed easily and just worked for me, the first time out. No complaints.

Posted 1 year ago - This software does a very good job backing up any dat in your computer. It can handle backup tasks for personal data and even your personal photos and videos. You can also schedule automatic system backup with your desired basis. I am happy with this program.

Posted 1 year ago - I am very pleased with this software. It did a very good job backing up all my data when my computer went crashed. It did even back up all my emails, family pictures, and family videos. Even better, you can schedule system backups on a regular basis.

5 Star Review Acronis True Image 11 Home

Strengths:

Backs up files faster than Ghost while requires less disk space; easier to use than Ghost; includes systems clean up wizard; compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 2000

Weaknesses:

Not yet as popular as Ghost.

Posted 1 year ago - After having used Ghost for many years, I tried the Acronis True Image 11 Home and love it. It is much easier to use while does not have any problem with reading and writing to certain types of disks. I like its speed in backing up files, data, applications, OS or the entire PC system, and the resulting backup files are much smaller than those created by Ghost. Copying an entire disk to another disk of different size is a quite simple and problem free with Acronis. That makes the task of upgrading the booting hard drives on my PC systems less challenging. It also has some security and privacy tools built in so that you could safely destroy sensitive data and clean up your PC system. I highly recommend it.

Posted 1 year ago - It is a very efficient software that provides entire system backup. The user interface is pretty friendly, so it is very easy to use that. It's extremely useful when you want to install multiple machines with the same configurations. It also provider very powrful functions on the disk operation such as formate, delete and so on.

4 Star Review Acronic True Image 11

Strengths:

Excellent Drive Image Tool; works with plug-in drives

Weaknesses:

Doesn't work from Windows

Posted 1 year ago - I have always used Norton Ghost for drive imaging, but decided to give this one a try as an alternative. Thus far, I am very much impressed...WHEN YOU USE IT FROM DOS MODE!! Don't bother installing it on your Vista system if you only intend to use the drive imaging functions. If you intend to use the backup utilities (which I don't use), then you will need to install it. I would initiate a drive image from within windows, the computer would reboot, then the drive image function would start up. It would finish in about 2-seconds, indicating that everything went okay. Of course, nothing was actually done, and it didn't tell you this! However, if you insert theh disc into your CD/DVD drive and boot from you, you can perform drive images w/out issues. It worked perfectly, and the GUI is extremely intuitive. It also worked with a variety of USB/eSATA plug-in drives.

Strengths:

Posted 1 year ago - Acronis 11 worked like a dream and I never had any issues taking a backup. The back up process was very smooth and the user interface is very well designed. It took me minutes to learn the imaging process and I love this tool. I recommend this over Norton Ghost to anyone who would need a imaging tool.

5 Star Review Better Safe than Sorry!

Strengths:

Very easy to set up and use, easy and convenient to append backups

Posted 1 year ago - I thought that making a complete and error-free backup would be a bit more difficult than this... But, to my surprise, I have absolutely no problems using this software at all! It was easy to understand and use the very first time, and as far as I can tell, it will be easy to use when I really need it if my PC ever crashes and/or I need to do a total reformat for any reason. The price after rebate was phenomenal! For less than 20 bucks I have total peace of mind again! Everything I need that I have stored I have no more fear of losing!

Strengths:

Easy Installation. Great Scheduler. Incremental Backups.

Weaknesses:

Have to play around with it to get the hang of the product, wish there was more documentation.

Posted 1 year ago - I have tried Norton Ghost, NTI Backup in the past when I thought they were great, but this product far beats them hands down. I use a lot of the "Smart Scheduling" feature and I worry less about doing bakups. Incremental backups are great use can see arevision history of your documents. Other bundled toosl like drive cleanser helps eliminate the need of other drive erasing software.

Posted 1 year ago - I was researching backup and recovery products primarily for - backups of most important data - pictures and home videos - swapping out the smaller hard drive in my PC with a larger one. The Acronis True Image 11 Home has helped in both aspects. The backups have been effortless. I ran into some difficulties during the migration to a larger hard drive - that's when I found the documentation to be a bit lacking. Though, nothing that can't be found on the web by a little bit of searching. Liked the Try & Decide feature too. Overall, I am satisfied with the product.
