This product includes software and USB/parallel cables for migrating from a parallel-port equipped computer and/or a USB-port equipped computer.IntelliMover lets you transfer customized settings, preferences, data files, e-mail, and more from an old PC to a new PC. Your new PC will have the same look and feel that you're used to, so you can get to work right away without having to spend time re-adjusting your settings! All these settings will be transferred from one PC to another: data files, folders, e-mail, MP3s, address books, dictionaries, settings (including backgrounds and screen savers), and dial-up connections. A typical 500MB migration takes approximately 83 minutes, depending on the size and number of files you're transferring. A step-by-step wizard helps you to make sure you migrate the settings for your applications and operating systems. Great Product!

Posted 1 year ago - I purchased Intellimover after getting a new computer for Christmas to transfer all of my music files, word documents, and settings. I was skeptical and worried that the information would be lost from both computers, but I didn't want to have to use a flash drive to move everything over, so I tried it anyway. I was very impressed. The program made copies of everything on my old computer and put the files exactly where they needed to go on the new one. It was easy to use; it walks you through each step, and at one point before I actually started moving everything and wanted to be sure, I called technical support and they explained exactly what I needed to do in terms that were easy for a computer-illiterate person to understand. Everything moved over, and in only 20 minutes - a relatively short time, considering how much I moved. This is a great product that I would recommend to anyone.

Strengths:

Moved a truckload of files from old Windows 98 computer to Windows XP w/Media Center. Moved my identity/e-mails/address book, as well as my spouse's. Directions very clear to understand.

Weaknesses:

This is a one-time shot. You buy the rights to one move, as I understand it, from one computer to another. Product then is toast.

Posted Oct 1, 2006 - The directions were clear. It was easy to use. It did a great job. Tons of files were moved. I highly recommend this product and I would use it again when my current beast becomes obsolete.

Installed on both PCs but would not communicate with each other or transfer files using both sets of enclosed cables.

Posted Oct 16, 2004 - Wasted over 10 hours trying to install and re-install this product on week old Dell 4700 running XP with Service pack 2 installed. Exasperated!! I e-mailed Detto support which resulted in a very confusing and useless reply as to uninstalling and reinstalling Intelli Mover. That only wasted more time. Totally exhausted, I decided to try again the next morning. The "Tech" that worked with me was very polite but was also very difficult to understand. He spent over 3 hours on the phone having me deleteing apps, all printer drivers and reconfiguring USB devices. He finally announced that we have done all he knew to do and I should return the product for a refund. Meanwhile he left me with old PC that will not accept the reinstall of my printer drivers and other problems. I've mailed the product back 2 weeks ago and waiting for my refund

Known issue with bad inluded usb cable

Included USB data transfer cable is bad and company is aware of it.

Posted May 2, 2006 - Included USB data transfer cable is bad and company is aware of it but refuses to pull product from store shelves. Tech support wanted me to "just go out and purchase another cable". I purchased this product for the specific reason that it came with cables. What a joke!

Great Product! Excedes Expectations!

Posted 1 year ago - This is a great program that was easy to use and understand. At one point, I had a question for support to make sure I wouldn't lose any of my files, so I called support. I expected hours of being on hold and waiting for support to figure out my problem, but they picked up right away and answered my question clearly and kindly. This is great software made by a great company.
