4 Star Review Good Product

Strengths:

Big display, easy to read, quiet, and comfortable.

Weaknesses:

None so far.

Posted Jan 21, 2006 - Very easy to use and very accurate also it works quickly. I brought it to a few of my Dr visits to compare the pressure readings and it was pretty much right on. My Doctor was impressed with it as well. Doesn't take up a lot of space and can be used anywhere at anytime. It isn't very loud either. Many times I'll use it while my wife is sleeping and she never flinches.

4 Star Review Omron HEM780

Strengths:

Not too expensive, easy to operate and readings are fairly accurate.

Weaknesses:

Readings are a bit off compared to readings at doctor's office.

Posted Nov 25, 2005 - Though readings are a bit off - they are consistently off by about 8-10 so I've just taken 8 off of each reading. Bought it after reading several good reviews about this product and so far I have had no regrets buying it

1 Star Review Works, but....

Strengths:

Nice features, convenient (when it works), easy to setup, large easy to read display

Weaknesses:

Errors

Posted 1 year ago - Worked fine first 3-4 weeks, however past week or so I've been getting a lot of "Error" readings. It starts over and often does the same thing. Sometimes I just give up trying. I will probably send it Omron for repair/replacement.

2 Star Review Cuff may need to be redesigned

Strengths:

Large digital display. Seems to be accurate. Has dated memory and time.

Weaknesses:

Cuff may become difficult to tighten after developing crease.

Posted Aug 25, 2006 - I have to agree with MFLewis001: This is the second cuff Omron has sent to me. It works fine at first, then it tends to develop a crease which is then difficult to tighten. This crease that develops underneath your arm has happened on both cuffs. When this crease develops, it's almost impossible to tighten the cuff. I get repeated errors at the beginning of the test because the cuff isn't tight enough. My arms are rather large, but not larger than the cuff will allow. IMO the cuff needs to be redesigned to eliminate the possible development of this crease. It's apparent, I'm not the only one.

Strengths:

Works as advertised. Simple to use.

Weaknesses:

Little bit snug in its fit (but I'm a 200 lb. working man).

Posted Nov 19, 2004 - The good thing about this product is that it pretty much takes your blood pressure in a no-nonsense kind of way. But you have to be careful with the Omron line of BP machines. When I originally went to a store to buy one I read the boxes and discovered that most of them run on batteries and don’t include a plug for the wall. This model is the one that does, so for me it’s the only way to go. I mean, unless you’re out in the field working for the Peace Corp taking the BP of the locals most people are going to use the machine in their own house-so plugging it into the wall is going to save you a ton on battery costs. As for function, the buttons are clearly marked and they’re really only two of them, so you cant go wrong. You may decide to do some “adventurous” stuff like I did; by default the machine records in its memory the last 10 readings. And in my case, I originally bought the machine at the corner drugstore, came home and tried it out, then found a MUCH better price at Pricegrabber. So I decided to return the store bought version-minus my BP readings. The instructions that come with it says to press the 2 buttons at the same time to erase readings. And that was that. To recap; it works. And it’s a good thing to have around, and since the hold fasion manual pump-up kind are getting harder to find, this is probably the best deal for this price range.

Strengths:

Easy to operate with great accuracy.

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Oct 31, 2004 - I had a doubt about my blood pressure readings doctor measured. Every time I went to the doctor's office for check up, I got nervous and my blood pressure measure up to 159/90. Doctor suggested I should be on medication to control the BP. I wasn't ready to be dependent on medication and decided to purchase BP monitor device to measure at home. I read the review on health web site and purchased HEM-780 Monitor. Guess what, my readings were far lower than what doctor measured. On my next visit, I took this device to doctor's office and verify the accuracy. I was surprised that home monitor can give same result as doctor's equipment. I have recorded up to 90 readings, prepared a graph to show to the doctor and he suggested to control diet instead of prescribing the medication. I am glad I have purchased this device. I advised my relatives and friends to purchase this model to check blood pressure at home.

Strengths:

Easy to operate with a cuff that fits all, has a large display with 90 memory recall - and is very accurate.

Weaknesses:

None

Posted Nov 14, 2004 - This is the third blood pressure monitor that I purchased, and the only one that I kept. The first two monitors were both wrist types, one had a cuff that wouldn't work on my arm (I am a big man), and I didn't want to pay extra for a larger cuff so my wife and I could both use it, and then after buying another with a cuff that would work for both of us, the readings were just not accurate. After doing research on the Internet, I decided to purchase the Omron HEM-780, and this product has exceeded my expectations. It is nice to find a product that does everything as advertised - easy and quick to use, has a large display with memory, a cuff that fits all, and last but certainly not least, is very accurate. All this and for such a reasonable price, I highly recommend this product to anyone that needs to monitor their blood pressure.

Strengths:

Incredibly easy to use. Read out is large. The memory function is a real plus

Weaknesses:

Posted Jan 22, 2005 - The Omron HEM780 is a new state of the art automated blood pressure device. It is easy to use. It comes with both batteries and an AC adapter so that it can be used whenever and whereever you wish even if you are not near an electrical outlet. My physician recommended it to me and he was right on the money. I would recommend it to anyone.

2 Star Review Omron HEM780: Good .. not professional grade though!

Strengths:

Ease of Use: the arm band is really easy to put on, measures quickly, easy to read, looks pretty nice, works both on battery and AC - already comes with battery adapter and 4 AA cells

Weaknesses:

Doesn't seem to be that accurate. The packing is clumsy. Once you unpack it, it's hard to put it back in the case with all the stuff that comes with it.

Posted Sep 28, 2005 - I bought this BP monitorafter a lot of research. I really wanted a quality BP monitor which could give "accurate" readings. After a few days use, I was not quite convinced of the accuracy. The readings were consistently different from the ones I got from doctors office (though by 5-7 points .. which by the way means a lot to me). So I decided to compare HEM780 with itself. Got another one from a local CVS (by the way they rip you on price compared to Amazon etc.). Surprisingly the second monitor reported way different readings (around 10-12 points) than the first one. My BP measured at the Physician's office was infact near to the average of the readings of the two monitors. I know there are many factors which are responsible for BP reading .. and the error may be "genuine" because of the way BP is at different times of the day, and in different circumstances. However, I did notice a consistent over-reporting in one monitor and under-reporting in another. However I'm still keeping the monitor since it's direcionally okay and better than some of the others sold in the market. Not very satisfied though ..

2 Star Review Somewhat unreliable

Strengths:

Speed

Weaknesses:

cuff, measurement reliability

Posted Jul 7, 2006 - I had major problems getting this monitor to work properly. The cuff seemed to go on easily, but was hard to get in the correct position on the left arm. I felt I needed an extra hand to get it right. Very frustrating. On the right arm is rarely worked to conclusion and often returned an error message. Error messages are coded, so despite the large display, you have to go to manual to find out what the message means. I am returning this monitor and going back to my old one.

4 Star Review Good BP monitor

Strengths:

Large screen. Easy to read.

Weaknesses:

None at the moment.

Posted Oct 6, 2005 - I bought this item for my parents. They liked the fact that the screen is large and easy on the eyes. It is also easy to use. So far the readings have been pretty accurate. No complains yet.

4 Star Review Omron HEM780: Great product !

Strengths:

Very good accuracy, easy to use & has comfi-fit cuff to fit all medium to large arms.

Weaknesses:

Haven't found one yet.

Posted Oct 8, 2005 - This unit keeps the date/time stamp & can store upto 60 readings. Also the AC adapter makes it less expensive to use...And the ability to use AA batteries makes it easy to carry when you are travelling.

Weaknesses:

The first reading is sometimes not accurate.

Posted Jan 9, 2005 - This blood pressure monitor could not be easier to use or more convenient. The consistency is very good, but sometimes my first reading is not accurate. In this case I take a second and third to verify results.

Strengths:

The autoinflate mechanism is pretty fast. Ability to store last 90 readings.

Weaknesses:

Readings seem to fluctuate (not always accurate)

Posted May 25, 2005 - I've had this monitor for 3 months. Overall, I am satisfied with the monitor. It is well constructed, including the cuff. The AC adapter that comes with it is a definite plus. The only gripe I have with it is that sometimes the readings don't seem to be very accurate. Within minutes apart of taking readings I sometimes experience quite a variance between the readings. So I'm not sure if it's me or if it's the monitor.
