zoom56ok - (November 19, 2004) The good thing about this product is that it pretty much takes your blood pressure in a no-nonsense kind of way. But you have to be careful with the Omron line of BP machines. When I originally went to a store to buy one I read the boxes and discovered that most of them run on batteries and don’t include a plug for the wall. This model is the one that does, so for me it’s the only way to go. I mean, unless you’re out in the field working for the Peace Corp taking the BP of the locals most people are going to use the machine in their own house-so plugging it into the wall is going to save you a ton on battery costs. As for function, the buttons are clearly marked and they’re really

jayare2112 - (October 31, 2004) I had a doubt about my blood pressure readings doctor measured. Every time I went to the doctor's office for check up, I got nervous and my blood pressure measure up to 159/90. Doctor suggested I should be on medication to control the BP. I wasn't ready to be dependent on medication and decided to purchase BP monitor device to measure at home. I read the review on health web site and purchased HEM-780 Monitor. Guess what, my readings were far lower than what doctor measured. On my next visit, I took this device to doctor's office and verify the accuracy. I was surprised that home monitor can give same result as doctor's equipment. I have recorded up to 90 readings, prepared a graph to show t

capt2stu - (November 14, 2004) This is the third blood pressure monitor that I purchased, and the only one that I kept. The first two monitors were both wrist types, one had a cuff that wouldn't work on my arm (I am a big man), and I didn't want to pay extra for a larger cuff so my wife and I could both use it, and then after buying another with a cuff that would work for both of us, the readings were just not accurate. After doing research on the Internet, I decided to purchase the Omron HEM-780, and this product has exceeded my expectations. It is nice to find a product that does everything as advertised - easy and quick to use, has a large display with memory, a cuff that fits all, and last but certainly not least

1 Star Review Not Accurate. Dangerous to Use!

david595 - (06/22/2009) I have been testing this for the past month using my mercurial sphygmomanometer. I found it to be very inaccurate and does not even give indication of high or low blood pressure. I am well-versed in statistics and I followed the instructions carefully. I was intending to use it to make decisions on my medications. My blood pressure fluctuates considerably. I thought this was a convenient way. Recommnedation: It is dangerous to use this product! Do not buy it.

1 Star Review Works, but....

docjoc227 - (05/23/2009) Worked fine first 3-4 weeks, however past week or so I've been getting a lot of "Error" readings. It starts over and often does the same thing. Sometimes I just give up trying. I will probably send it Omron for repair/replacement.

3 Star Review OMRON Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor Model HEM-711AC

gj1680 - (12/21/2008) I have used Omron blood pressure monitor Model HEM-737 for some time. This new unit HEM-711AC is purchased as a back up as well as to double check accuracy of measurement. The new unit is easier to put on around the arm, partly because of the shorter cuff. The one push auto start feature is an improvement. The new unit consistently gives lower reading than the old unit. My cardiologist has compared readings of both Omron units with hers and informed me both units gave higher readings than her measurements. My conclusion is the pressure monitors provide conservative and consistent indication of your blood pressure. I have reservation on the degree of accuracy of both units. Pay more attention to changes in your blood pressure readings rather, upward or downward trend. That gives you the sign that something is happening and maybe its time to consult with your cardiologist
