2 Star Review BP-819 Battery sold by 1800emart or Supermart - Not advisable.

Strengths:

It works with my HG-20 Camcorder.

Weaknesses:

i.No Intelligent Battery Indicator. (Thus cannot communicate to the device to show how much charge is left). ii.Due to the point i, you will never know when the battery will be out of charge.

Posted 1 year ago - It works with my HG-20 Camcorder. As Intelligent Battery Indication option is not available, it wont be able to communicate with the Device. Thus Device ask whether to go ahead using this battery or not. If you opt 'Yes', it works but wont display how much charge is left, which is a huge disadvantage. This info. was not given by the seller. This battery cost around $60.00 from price grabber and orginal Cannon battery is around $84.00. Thus better to go for original Battery. Another point, the seller says these battery are made in japan. But the one I got was from China. Thus the quality is not good. Personally I wont recommend. Even Its not canon recommeded.

4 Star Review Required accessory for Canon HF10/HF100 cameras

Strengths:

2+ hours of battery life versus standard battery of < 1 hour

Weaknesses:

Increases form factor of camera

Posted 1 year ago - If you have a Canon HF10 or HF100 camera, the standard battery only lasts about an hour, so the extended life BP-819 is a needed accessory. It powered my camcorder for ~2 hours on a full charge. The only downside is that it sticks out a bit at the end of the camera since it's a larger battery

4 Star Review A must-have for vacations and long events

Strengths:

Essentially doubles the length of video that you can record over the standard battery. With my Canon HF100 this allowed me to record over 2hours in 1080p on a single charge.

Weaknesses:

When mounted on the camcorder it slightly juts out the back, but it's a minor complaint and doesn't interfere with handling or usage of the device.

Posted Apr 27, 2008 - I bought this as a backup for my HF100 since I was planning to use the camcorder for a wedding. With the standard battery I was only able to go a little over an hour in 1080p which was definitely not enough to capture all the craziness that can take place at a wedding reception! I now use this battery as the main and keep the standard when I'm running low on juice. Although it's a little larger than the standard battery it doesn't add much weight. It juts out the back of the camcorder slightly, but doesn't really interfere with its operation. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you plan on taking your HF10/HF100 on adventures where an electrical outlet isn't always available to power your camcorder.

4 Star Review Good but pricey

Strengths:

Lasts longer

Weaknesses:

Pricey and sticks out of camcorder

Posted 1 year ago - I bought this for my Vixia HF100. The default battery is almost useless as it lasts less than an hour. I decided to purchase this one and its much better. It lasts for more than 2 hours. I hate charging by putting it in the camcorder and for the same reason I bought a charger too. The battery sticks out from the back of the camcorder which you may not like. Other than that, it works good. Holds the charge for pretty good amount of time but its pricey.
