bmrolls - (January 07, 2005) This microphone is a wonderful compact addition to your video camera’s accessory bag. The sound quality is very good, but then again so is the internal microphone on my Optura Xi; there is a noticeable difference though. Comes with windshields and slips right into your camera’s hot shoe; simple. I would highly recommend this unit for video sound quality aficionados.

zhouwq - (June 11, 2005) I bought this microphone from web 5 days ago. It looks like very compact and handsome. I feel it is very suitable to my sony 109 minidv. It can focus the audio in a very clowdy site. It is very useful in wedding, party et al. I haven't found any big shortcoming of it. If someone forces me to search the problem. I only say it maybe has some inconvenient because its cord seem a little big.

silvero1 - (November 16, 2004) The microphone is of reasonable size, good quality and the performance is quite good for the money. It does exactly what I need and works well at a distance of about 30 feet from the stage.

1 Star Review Not recommended for Class Room Lecture recording.

gkzin_1108773132 - (03/04/2009) Bought it for Class Room Lecture recording for my Wife. Plug it into the Sony Mini Disc Player/Recorder, MZ-8xx. I did the recording in my quiet bed room with normal and raised voice like in the class room environment. It recorded, but when I play it back it was very faint. I can bearly hear anything. Plug it in to my laptop mic and tried recording it. Same thing. It's probably good for other environment. But it certainly not meant for Lecture recording.

5 Star Review A must for good video recordings

birdman 1101 - (09/17/2008) I bought one of these with a new Canon HF100 HD camcorder primarily because the camera was to be used at my outdoor wedding. The mic did a great job of picking up the ceremony in shotgun mode and my cameraman was about halfway back in the audience. I've also gotten cool shots of birds and the honeybees on my peach tree picking at the old peaches. The mic was able to pick up the buzzing bees while the video was zoomed in from 10-15 feet back. The mic also does a great job of picking up stereo differentiation when switched to 90 or 120 degree mode. Obviously you need headphones plugged in to hear what you're filming, and closed-back 'phones work the best. The included wind shield looks like a conspicuous, giant rabbit's foot, but works like a charm. All in all, an essential accessory for such a reasonably priced ($650) HD cam as the HF100.

4 Star Review Sony ECM-MS908

larryweiner - (06/23/2008) Excellent microphone for the price. This is the second one I have owned and I would not hesitate to recommend it to other folks. Sometimes the highs are a bit bright for my taste
