5 Star Review Good overal tripod. Helps that is is reasonably priced.

Strengths:

Fluid movement, adjustable dials, easy/quick set up, spikes at contact points to prevent slippage, and very light weight.

Weaknesses:

none

Posted Oct 3, 2007 - I used this tripod for a sports training montage and I was very pleased with the results. Action shots are fluid and the motion was consistent without being jerky. I was thoroughly impressed with the tripod. I have worked semi professionally in the past and have worked with some beautiful tripods that glide when moved, this was as close of an experience as I have had with a tripod of this size.

4 Star Review Velbon 607 is good value

Strengths:

Light weight. Fluid pan head. Cost.

Weaknesses:

A lot of plastic. Not as smooth as the more expensive tripods.

Posted Dec 1, 2005 - For the price, I could not find another tripod offering a fluid head. Some advertise as "fluid-LIKE". The fluid head is smooth when panning. The tripod is light enough to carry around yet not too light as to efect my videos. I use the tripod for video-taping my son's 5th grade basketball games. For this it is fine. If you plan to use a tripod frequently or professionally, you should probably look to spend a lot more money (Bogen comes to mind).

5 Star Review Great budget camcorder tripod

Strengths:

Smooth head

Weaknesses:

None

Posted 1 year ago - I had two tripods that were all for use with a camera. Both would be jerky pretty badly whenever I tried to pan or tilt with my new camcorder. So I bought this tripod, and have been very happy with the smooth movement resulted from the fluid head on this tripod. Highly recommend to those who use camcorder on a tripod only a few times a year, and don't want to spend too much money on it.

4 Star Review Velbon CX-607 review: Great inexpensive tripod

Strengths:

Nice features for the price. Pseudo-fluid ead allows for smooth pan/tilts with a little care. Quick release plate is great for stow and go with camcorders.

Weaknesses:

A little on the heavy side if you need to travel. Included tripod case is lightweight fabric that will only protect against scratches.

Posted May 5, 2008 - I purchased this tripod to use with my Canon HV20 camcorder for filming family events. I wanted something inexpensive (not a pro by any stretch) but of nice quality. This tripod is very solid, extremely adjustable, and good enough for the type of use I will subject it to. Other people have commented on some wobble to the center post when extended. I have not noticed this on my tripod. It is very solid when fully extended. One thing of note is that you will need to steady the tripod with your free hand sometimes when panning. I think this is a great low-cost tripod for an amateur videographer.

5 Star Review Videomate 607 Tripod

Strengths:

Smooth Fluid Head, Stable, Comes with a carrying case

Weaknesses:

none that I can think of.

Posted Sep 30, 2007 - Great Tripod for the money. Smooth fluid head for panning shots. Not overly heavy, and perfect for small camcorders or cameras. Nice bonus is the carrying case. Includes a separate pan and tilt lock knobs. Decent construction includes aluminum legs with metal spikes in the rubber feet.
