Posted Jun 6, 2007 - This digital camcorder is quite light, VERY easy to use ergonomically (the touchscreen is fantastic), works well in low light, uses standard, readily available (for cheap) media, & has all the bells & whistles you'd expect from a relatively inexpensive digital camcorder. I can't comment on any real weaknesses as I've yet to find any!

BAD video playback on large TVs

Posted Jul 5, 2006 - The worst feature about this camera is that when you playback on a large TV (i.e. 30in or greater) the video quality if fuzzy. There is nothing in the documentation that addresses this. I spoke to Sony about it and their basic response was "too bad".

Great camcorder

Posted Jul 7, 2006 - My previous camcorder was a JVC, but I found this Sony camcorder was better designed. I have been using it for about a month filming both indoor and outdoor, and the picture came out great either way. Even though the camcorder's weight is very light, if you are going to be recording for a long time a tripod is definitely recommended.

Sony DCR DVD105

Posted May 12, 2006 - This camcorder writes directly to a DVD/RW media which can be played directly on a PC or DVD player. This simplies the process of copying from digital tape to DVD media. You can easily view recorded movie segments via the touch screen without having to rewind as with digital tapes. The touch screen makes it easy to access camera options.

Great starter camcorder

Posted Jun 26, 2007 - It's a handy camcorder and very comfortable to hold it in your hand. The touch screen is very nice and self-explanatory. Very easy to use. It has decent quality to low-end professional, lots of features such as faders, black & white, and wide screen mode and etc. The dvd disc(R) is not expensive and you can get it about $8 for 5 discs. But as many other dvd camcorders, you can't edit video which is frustrating sometimes.

cool DVD camcorder from Sony

Posted Jun 22, 2007 - I like this camcorder because of its 20X zoom with better video quality over my other MiniDV camcorder. No great PC interface makes transfer to PC bit difficult. But the DVD is ready to play in minutes. I like this camcorder for the price I paid.

Great Camcorder for Beginners Not Enthusiast (Very Reputable Brand)

Posted Jun 9, 2007 - Overall, I assess that this unit is on the low end of all camcorders. I do have another Sony DVD camcorder that is Top of the Line of Sony's. The build quality is more durable in terms of the material used ( i.e. plastic , buttons ). The picture quality is above average but not compared to upper end units from Sony. I am pleasantly surprised on dvd picture quality for this low end. At night, quality is not so great but what would you expect for a lower end camcorder. I would only recommend this unit if you have a budget.
