Not bad

Strengths:

Wide LCD, nice photos outdoor, easy playable discs on my dvd

Weaknesses:

Poor video quality in low light, takes time to load disk, battery life could be better

Posted Oct 4, 2006 - This is my 5th camera i purchase and i was not so happy after i bought it, my main concern was video quality and i found out that it is not perfect even when you are recording 20 mins per disc which is the best quality you can get, indoors quality is grainy and blured, in low light you get terrible video result. Stills are good outdoors and can be printed but indoors it is not good. compared to all minidvs which i previously had it is fair interms of quality and easiness of use, for the same price I would in the future buy a 3ccd minidv

Strengths:

Night shot light buid In, Two in one for Movie & Camera on one disc, LP mode for 60 Min is excellent

None.

Posted Feb 10, 2005 - It easily fits in our hands and it is simple to use. The only negative aspect I can think of is that it does not have as powerful a zoom as other models, but the 10X optical and 120X digital is powerful enough for us. Overall I think it's a great camcorder and would recommend it highly

Great Camera

Posted Aug 5, 2006 - I really enjoyed reading all of your reviews. I did not buyed yet this camcorder, but i intend to. I want to ask all of you people that own this camcorder if there is a LP mode (long play) that allows you to record 60 minutes on a DVD (r or rw). I understand that on SP you can record 30 minutes. But does this camcorder support LP mode? I really want to record 60 minutes... Thank you and i'm looking forward to see your replyes.

Grainy Pictures

Strengths:

Great for outdoor pictures and videos.

Weaknesses:

Indoor pictures and video are too dark and grainy.

Posted Dec 12, 2005 - I purchased this camcorder right before going on vacation and spent a week in NY only to find that when I went to finalize the disk, I received a "format error" and lost all pictures and video. I called Sony and was told that there was nothing I could do and given a number for a company that does recovery. I called and they wanted $160 plus shipping both ways and could not guarantee that they could recover anything. Luckily one of the guys at work has some software that recovered some of my pictures but not all. Recently I shot both pictures and video of my husbands surprise party and was disapointed at the quality of the product. I called Sony and the suggested getting an optional flash for $150 but cant locate it anywhere except the Sony website.
