The camcorder is wonderful, very small size like sony, but it has light, still picture is not good, do not hope camcorder has the same picture like Digital cameras.I think it is enough to do family DV.I love it!

TopStrengths: Small, handy, light, easy to use
Weakness: battery length is too short
I have been using this tiny but featureful DV for a week now. It is very easy to operate, has almost all the functions for non-professional or first timers. The only thing I do not like is the length of the battery. I need to buy a backup battery if I am traveling.

TopI also have bought a JVC gr-d270 camcorder and really enjoying it. My only problem is that I have lost the former cd-rom containing software for my camera (dital photo navigator and g.276 decoder). Could any body give me a hand? When I discharge films into my pc, which capture program is recommended? Hope you all keep on enjoying your cameras.
Strengths: quality
Weakness: Batt Life

TopStrengths: Size and Zoom
Weakness: Lens Cap Falls Off, 1 Hour Battery
Love it Love it Love it
I never thought I would have used this little camera so much. It fits in my handbag and now I carry it everywhere -weighs so little, even with the battery on. Takes great video and stills, I am always prepared! Zoomed in for graduation photos from so far away, could see the Principal's nose hairs! Filmed Macy's 4th of July Fireworks, which came out great! Easy to use and complex if you want to get more into it. Requires memory card for stills and MiniDV tapes for video. So far, only drawback is the 1 hour battery. Guess I will have to get a backup. Would be nice if I could use AA batteries for emergencies.

TopStrengths: Very compact, ergonomic buttons, excellent LCD screen.
Weakness: Lens cap gets in the way, light could be more powerful/bright, short battery life.
I did a lot of research before purchasing this camcorder. I didn't want to spend a lot of money, but I wanted a full-feature camcorder that was easy to carry around. It was important to me that the camcorder take still photos, which this one does (SD card not included, but I bought one at Circuit City for $14.99 that will hold up to 100 pictures, depending on resolution). This camcorder is lightweight, compact and easy to use. I haven't figured out how to best shoot film indoors, and my attempts have resulted in some dark shots. The camcorder light could be brighter or have more range. However, there are many menu options that I have not yet explored, and there may be a solution to this dilemma. I agree with other reviewers that the battery life should either: 1) be longer, or 2) an additional battery should be included with the camera.
If you are looking for a good price and a versatile camera, this may be the one for you. I am very happy with it.

TopStrengths: lightweight, nice zoom
Weakness: battery life is to short, can't view on computer
The camcorder has an excellent zoom, which to me is very important. It is very small and lightweight which makes it easy to take almost any place. The battery life is very low, so you basically need to buy an extra battery. For the price of the camera you should get a better battery with a longer life to it. Since this does take still pictures it would have been nice to have a flash on here. You need special adapters to watch your videos on your computer. This should have come with the camcorder. I would have liked to been able to view the vidoes on my computer. Overall a decent camcorder.

TopTo view video/photos on computer, you must install software that comes in the box or have a photo program. You need a program that will open the pictures. You can use any one you may have, but best is the one that came in the box. Then when you import the pictures, if your camera is plugged in, it should recognize it. Good Luck.
How can i install the WEB CAMERA on my computer ... i have this exact model ... but i can not find anything that says how to install the camera as a web cam. ...
can you help me plz?!
Strengths: Small
Weakness: Broken, breaks, customer support not helpful,
Bought this camera, thinking I was getting a good deal. Was I in for a surprise. Still Photos that it takes are too blurry, Camera needs a flash bulb. After 2 days of on and off use camera broke. I am sure every one that has bought this camera will sooner or later add their name to this list. Playback of a recording ended up in about 4 horizontal lines across the screen each measuring about 1 centimeter wide. Playback on T.V. same thing some lines but video was lost.... this is the worst camera they have ever built, if you buy it do get the warranty and keep your paperwork. I would sell mine as is for 50.00 bucks. Since now it is worthless.

TopStrengths: Love the compact size. This camcorder replaced an older model - like the design and size. GReat zoom, easy to use, manual easy to read
Weakness: Haven't found any yet - waiting to try it on night parades in Disney later in year.
Really like the size and design of this camcorder. It's VERY compact and with this model, I feel I will use more of the features including the slow motion which I haven't seen on other models. I use the camcorders for travel photos and film and think this will do the trick. It is replacing an older model and will await to see if it stands up to time.

TopStrengths: 1) Price 2) Nearly Good features 3) Small, Slick and handy
Weakness: 1)A bit of noise at Low Light 2)Absence of firewire cable (need to buy separately) 3) No remote Control
This Camera is good. I have been using it since 3 months now. This is my first Camera and it has not given me any serious problem. Being lower price, it has its small weaknesses but it scores great over its competitors with similar price range

The JVC GR-D270 is the middle-of-the-road low-end JVC this year, and in our opinion the best value among cheaper JVCs this year. It features the same imager (CCD-Charge Coupled Device) as both of the other lower-end JVCs, the GR-D250 and GR-D295, and as such, performs similarly to both camcorders.

Retailing for US $350.00 street ($449 suggested retail), the JVC GR-D270 is the middle-of-the-road model of this year’s GR line and replaces last year’s JVC GR-D72. Astute readers will notice that the price tag is $100 less than the GR-D72 entry price, and some may wonder how they managed to reduce the price even though the internal specs between the two camcorders are (with one major...

Don't Buy JVC
Strengths: Easy to use, when it worked.
Weakness: Blocky playback after 5 hours of recording. Poor tech support from JVC.
this camera stopped working properly after a mere 5 hours of recording. playback of video became blocky.
an authorized JVC repair shop told me that i needed a $100 part, and that it would cost $300 to repair. the part is covered by the warranty, but not the labor (i didn't start using the camera until after the labor warranty ran out).
JVC tech support refuses to help, or even to admit that $400 dollars worth of repairs to a $300 camera seems odd. if this had been a car it would be considered "totalled."
i asked JVC if they would send me the part, to see if i could repair the camera myself, but they said they don't do that. the repair shop wouldn't order me the part either.
my advice: don't buy JVC.
