Now, what about sound, you know, sound ?

Discussion of Camcorders

Posted 1 year ago - Strangest thing, on most data sheets and in most postings,it's as if we lived in a deaf, soundless world. What if one wants to tape interviews, or live-to-camcorder manually-controled sound, or more, a two lapel-microphones balanced interview ? I would prefer camcorders that work with SDM or flashstick memory, hence no Sony tape formats, for example...

Why is this one reccomended by MAC?

Discussion of Sony Handycam DCR-DVD Mini DVD408 Digital Camcorder

Posted May 14, 2007 - The sony DVD Camcorders have no firewire support - they do have the USB 2.0 which is supposed to be faster, but MAC doesn't recognize the USB connection for Video, it does pick up any still images. The only way that I have been told (by Apple Support), to capture video to your Mac is to copy the digital files to the Mac and then convert them with a ripper to MP4 format, then start editing. If anyone is aware of a different better or easier method that would be great. BTW - another negative for the Sony DVD Cams is that the Mini DVD's do not work in the Mac mini DVD Super Drive too small?

Discussion of JVC Everio GZ-HD7 60GB Hard Drive Camcorder

Posted Mar 20, 2007 - Would the box contain the install disk for Cyberlink Power Director 5.0 and Power Producer as claimed in the preliminary promotion news by JVC? Would Cyberlink send out a patch that updates existing 5.0 customers so that they would work with AVCHD format. Editing on PC is a currently a major problem with all manufacturers.

how about FX7

Discussion of Sony DCR-HC26 MiniDV Digital Camcorder

Dimensions of 145 x 322 x 156mm and weighing 1.4kg. FX7 used 3CMOS crystal sharp ClearVid sensor, to 1.12 million pixels per pixel CMOS (about 1.04 million effective pixels), using interpolation shooting 1920*1080 resolution video signal. FX7 support HDV mode (1080i) and DV models (480i), there is still no 720P shooting mode. Zoom FX7 carrying 20 metaphase were using nematic Carl Zeiss lens. Other Digital Camcorders in this Price Range?

Discussion of Panasonic PV-GS500 MiniDV Camcorder

Posted Aug 22, 2006 - Hi all, I am looking for a camcorder like this... This is the first one I have come across that looks like it has the features I need at the price I can afford. The features I am most concerned with are: - Digital recording... miniDV, hard drive, etc. are all fine. - 3 CCD - Quality lens with a BIG optical zoom range... 20x or 30x would be better than 12x if there isn't a big loss of quality. - Good Optical image stabilization - Price around (or ideally under) $650 So, clearly this covers most of the bases. But I want to make sure I am buying the best camera for my money... What other cameras should I compare this to? Also, for digital (non-video) cameras, there is a great review site at www.dpreview.com. Is there a similar resource for camcorders? Thanks in advance.

Discussion of Camcorders

Posted Jun 17, 2006 - I guess I fell for an old trick at one of the low price internet dealers. Price quoted was 489 but then they said if you want all the extras it'll be 740. the 489 was just for the shell. Sooooo can anyone tell me if the " extras" are needed or that expensive and can you operate it without computer software. The extras were the " U.S. package" and the warranty was U.S. Thanks.

anyone experienced the quality and reliability of Hitachi DZBX35A DVD Digital Camcorder?

Discussion of Hitachi DZBX35A DVD Digital Camcorder

Posted Jun 10, 2006 - I'm considering replacing an older model Sony Super 8 camcorder, which became unrepairable after 3 years of very little usage, with a Hitachi DZBX35A DVD camcorder at less than $400. Will I regret going with this Hitachi model dvd with limited video time and more expensive recording dvd disc's costs compared to the less expensive and multiple recording dv mini digital tape films? Main concern is whether to take chance on a Hatachi, even with Circuit City's extended replacement warranty. The DZBX35A's features seem superb for the money. By the way, I must purchase at Circuit City since they gave me a $400 extended replacement warranty pay-off on the Sony I bought from them about 3 years ago. Glad to hear from some of you experienced video artists out there! Jim
