The Razr is a keeper!
Slim design, high tech materials, light weight, large screen, voice dialing software.
Software lacks some of the features that are available on earlier Motorola models;side buttons difficult to operate;inability to modify home keys;no option to vibrate then ring
Posted Apr 16, 2006 - This phone is beautiful and has some great features such as the size and color of the screen, the feel and size of the keys, and super slim design. The keys are easy to manipulate in low light and the texturing makes them even easier with just a feel. This is especially useful when text messaging. The soft buttons on the sides of the flip are a little difficult to push and the fact that they are on the flip, reverses the effect between when the phone is open or closed. So quick action to silence a ringer or change ring types is difficult because your learned behavior has to change. Consequently even after 2 months of use I cannot change ring types easily without pushing multiple combinations of the side soft keys. The software is intuitive and has a lot of features; the ability to access the internet is handy. Unfortunately V Cast is not available in my area so I don't have access to that feature. Having been used to a V265, the software lacks some of the features that I have had, eg., automatic message clean up and the ability to scroll through the messages when open. In addition you cannot modify the home keys and menus do not seem to be available when needed from some screens. There are menu items that have no explanation, e.g., "auto save" and "auto erase" and the manual neglects to tell you how to use these options. Furthermore, Motorola phone techs do not know and what they think those commands should do, does not happen. I would like to have a message clean-up option and there seems to be none. The voice recognition software is excellent and in addition to being able to dial names and numbers, you can use voice for other menu commands and to start text messages. Now all they need is the ability to dictate the text message too! The camera takes good pictures and video and adding pix and special ringers to contacts is a lot of fun. Overall, the Razr is a nice piece of equipment with a lot of style and functionality.
