Strengths:Large capacity, moisture sensor, wrinkle guard, Whirlpool reputation for reliability
Posted Dec 10, 2007 - We purchased this dryer as a pair with the Duet Sport washer. This dryer replaces a 22 year old Kenmore (which still works fine, by the way). Just about any dryer will work OK, but there are several features on this model that make life so much easier.
At 6.7cf, this dryer easily holds a full load of laundry. There are 6 automatic cycles, 3 timed cycles, heavy duty cycle, normal cycle and delicate cycle available at the turn of a button on the front panel. So just about every situation is covered. What we really like using is the moisture sensor settings- this senses the moisture content of your cloths and adjusts the drying time automatically. Saves energy and much hassle. The dryer beeps to notify you that the load is done. No more running down to the basement to check if the cloths are dry! Cloths come out perfectly dry and (mostly) wrinkle free.
Another very useful feature is the "wrinkle shield". If you know you can't unload the dryer right away, this intermittently tumbles the cloths (for up to an hour and a half) to keep them from wrinkling. Works great!
As stated earlier, we purchased this as a pair with the Duet Sport washer. The dryer will stack on top of the washer (which we did) and saves space. They can be put side by side as well if you want to use both the machine's top for a "counter" area. I know several retailers that sell a mat that goes on top of both machines for a seamless counter area.
One last thing, this dryer is quiet (at least compared to our old Kenmore). That's really not a big deal for us (ours is in the basement), but desirable as some people may put this closer to the living space of their home.
