DeLonghi Pump Espresso Machine

Strengths: Easy to use; good coffee/espresso; very well priced

Weakness: Takes a while to warm up

Initially I was more attracted to bigger named brands but because of the affordability and great reviews (from this site and others) on the DeLonghi pump driven espresso machine, I was tempted to buy this product and try it out. I looked everywhere for "negative" comments but it seems that this machine didn't really have any substantial negatives.
I must admit that out of the box I was impressed. The form looks nice. Modern and fits well in my kitchen. (Ive gotten compliments on it too). When brewing espresso I was not let down. This little machine delivered a robust cup of espresso from the start. It also yield nice crema unlike other home machines that Ive encountered. Must say TWO THUMBS UP!

Great machine!

Strengths: Just everything! Heats up very quickly...ready to use in 1-2 minutes. Does great job with the steaming milk. Coffee is excellent. Crema is just like described in product descriptions. Great price!

Weakness: Steaming nozzle slightly short, but still very operable. Plastic steam nozzle head works great but hard to screw on and off.

We love it!! We've had it for about...oh...5 or 6 months and we love it! It makes excellent coffee and is great at steaming milk for steamers, hot chocolate, anything. We love that the water tank is refillable while in use. It's fast and consistent in both the coffee and the steaming process. It's easy to use, easy to take care of and we love it!

Great Deal on a Quality Espresso Machine

Strengths: - Stainless Steel Boiler - 15 Bar Pump - Sturdy Construction - Bargain Price - Removable Drip Tray and Metal Cover - Large Removable Water Tank

Weakness: - Delonghi's Questionable Service Record

This is the best espresso machine on the market for less than $100, because it's the only one with a boiler. Most of the $50 machines are just steam driven and thus cannot produce the pressure required to make "real" espresso. They won't make any crema, and they won't pull as much flavor out of the coffee. There are plenty of other machines under $100 that are pump driven, but they all use thermoblocks instead of boilers which can not deliver hot water reliably and thus can not make good espresso.
This machine also beats the specs of many machines under $300. Many espresso makers in the $100-$300 range have boilers, but most of them are aluminum which corrodes quickly. These machines will be rendered useless and irreparable after only a few years. This machine's Steel Boiler will last a lifetime.
As far as my experience with the machine so far goes, I've been quite impressed. I've only had this Machine for one day, but it's pumped out a lot of espresso without a hitch. The powerful heating element works quickly and the large water tank will hold enough for all the espresso I'll every make in a day. The machine's frame feels surprisingly sturdy, and the switches and metal parts are all very high quality. I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase

Great Espresso Machine for the price.

Strengths: Pump is quick and powerful, Fast Warm up and delivery. Easy to set-up and use, Steamer quickly froths and heats milk. Easy clean-up

Weakness: Steamer arm is too close to unit and needs to be further out. Tamper is in awkward position and is hard to use correctly

The unit is well made and the pump unit is quick and works well. The steamer heats the milk quickly. This is a good manual espresso machine for the price but has some drawbacks which can be worked around, all and all it is worth the money.

Delonghi EC140B Pump Driven Espresso/Cappuccino...

Strengths: creamy coffe, compact, easy to use

Weakness: temperature maybe get cold a bit to fast

Very good machine for the price. I'm italian and I know what an espresso is supposed to taste and look.
Someone complained the instruction are written by someone that use english as a second language.... if you buy an italian brand you don't buy it to have well written english instructions, but to drink a good coffe. After all espresso and cappuccino are italians words.

Great little machine, gets the most out of your...

Strengths: Great tasting coffee, easy handling, fast heating - first cup in less than a minute!!

Weakness: None so far

I just love the taste of the espresso this machine produces, so round and mellow and sweet. In fact, I am putting less sugar in my coffee than I used to, next to nothing.
I have to agree with the Italian gentleman posting a review, this machine produces superb crema.
On the translation/manual issue - yes, there are a few minor glitches in the translation but I have seen manuals from US companies that were much worse. Non-issue, really.

Delonghi EC140B Pump Driven Espresso/Cappuccino...

Strengths: None

Weakness: Poor Manufacuring, Terrible Instructions

If you want expresso don't buy this piece of junk. The water tube leaks when warming up which would not be bad if the base was wide enough to catch the water, but you need to have a extra cup to catch the extra water. Their instructions are made by some one who has English as a second language.

Review on EC140B pump Driven Expresso

Strengths: It perofms excellently but there is one complaint

Weakness: The frothing nozzel is platic and the tube coming out is metal -- the metal strips the threads inside the plastic creamer nozzle.

I have used the EC140B lpump driven expresso machine for approximately two weeks. The coffee it makes is excellent and it does an very good job of frothing the nilk for cappucino. However the metal frothing tube strips the threads inside the plastic frothing nozzle. Other than that it is excellent

EC140B Pump Driven Expresso/Cappuccino Machine

Strengths: Compact, easy to use.

Weakness: None yet.

I purchased the EC140B Pump Driven Espresso/Cappuccino machine in June to use it in a motor home. I was not disappointed! It is a very compact design and works great in small places. It makes a great cup of cappuccino. My seventy+ year old parents found it very easy to use.

I must know if this cappuccino machine has the receptacle of boiling the water made out of stainless steel and NOT aluminum or plastic.

Had to Return it

Strengths: Makes good coffee

Weakness: Extreemly difficult to use. The steamer is too short and low, it was difficult to get a cup under the spout without spilling. The steamer also leaked. The cup height allowed is also too short.

I've tried many Espresso machines over the last couple of months and I hated this one the most. I made a huge mess trying to make a cup of coffee. I did solve the problem of a low spout by putting the machine on a cutting board.
