Terrible product

Started Sep 16, 2005

Strengths: made a decent cup of coffee for the first couple of weeks, and I actually did like how most all the parts came out for cleaning....however....

Weaknesses: I hate hate hate the sticky gooey coffee residue that, although we cleaned it thoroughly after EACH use, it still got so bad that the swing out filter basket wouldn't swing out anymore.

We bought this machine over a year ago with high hopes due to the Cuisinart brand. It was more than we'd spent on a coffee maker in the past but since we wanted the fresh grind feature, we went for it. It was the worst purchase! The folks at Cuisinart struck out on this design. It does lull you into a false sense of security and you think it's wonderful....then WHAM....it fails.... So sad for something that looks so good sitting on the counter...

I hateto tell you:"letthat be alesson:automation is notalways a good answer to the botherof multiple machines. For simplicity on coffee making,I'd suggest a good grinder(GaggiaMDF$200 orthesuperb KitchenAid Proline@ $159) and a Bodum French press of adequate size rememberingthat European cupsare a skimpy 4 oz butif you don'tlike residue at th bottom of yourcup, Krups has ONE goodcoffee maker theMoka brew and forless the Scandinavian design drip coffee maker at about $42 from Amazon. a bit flimsy butmakes superb coffee by brewingat theproper temperature between 195 and 205 degrees F and is a low price alternative tothe superior Dutch- made Technivorm (nonebetter!butpricey).or finickyinfo try coffegeekcom'ssiteon the web:100% truthful and complete information. stick to coffeegeek's reviews not the often biased users's ones(example oneuserof your "grindandbrewrated it"excepytionallyeasytoclean" YEA RIGHT!

I have the cuisinart grind and brew maker. I am not happy with it at all. It plugs up fast due to the little screen on the bottom of the water tank, and you can't get it out. My first machine leaked water all over except in the pot, sent it back. 2nd one plugged up really fast and the beep sound went off before it had 4 cups in the pot. sent it back had to pay $25 for the next pot. It does the same thing. I clean it with vinegar just like the directions. I just think it is a poor design. If any one out there knows a good one let me know.
