Posted 1 year ago - Although I enjoy the cup of coffee this makes, It is messy and a pain to clean. I often have to clean up spilled coffee or coffee bean residual off the counter or coffee maker itself. In order to remove the grinder cup it is necessary to actually grab the blade with a pliers and gently tease the cup off the center post. It is impossible to remove it otherwise. I have found no other way to remove this cup for cleaning, and it must be cleaned! I didn't clean it for a few brews and it clogged up and wouldn't dispense the ground coffee. The cup also gets very wet and gooey. It is also difficult pouring from the carafe, tends to drip and is slow pouring. Also it has only an 8 cup not 12 cup capacity. Unless you like very weak coffee the dispenser doesn't hold enough beans for 12 cups.If this wasn't a gift from my son knowing what I now know I would look elsewhere.

worst I every bought

Posted Feb 8, 2007 - I would not buy another Cruisinart product because of their lack of customer support, the poor performance of the coffeemaker, and the difficulty keeping it clean. They really struck out on this model, but will not admit it. To charge to repair or replace it just adds to my frustration. This was not a cheap coffee pot

What a Mess!!!

Posted Dec 11, 2005 - I was a long-time fan and user of Cuisinart® brew and grind coffee makers but was 100% dissapointed at this "upgraded" model. While it was about 25% easier to clean (steam still causes the coffee grinder to hold grounds), the coffee was the worst I had ever had from over 10 coffee makers during my coffee-drinking lifetime. This one brags a 12-cup decanter but the grinder will only hold enough coffee to make about 6 good cups of coffee. Brewing 12 cups of coffee produced the weakest coffee I have ever had!!! I'm a gourmet coffee drinker (I like ti strong and bold) but for $100 I expect better coffee that from the local McDonalds. Until I could replace this coffee maker, I returned to my local gas station for their coffee each morning.

What a disappointment

Posted Nov 25, 2005 - I like a rich cup of coffee. This doesn't cut it. There is no way to grind the coffee fine enough to make a nice cup. I called the help desk to find out if they had a screen with smaller holes for a finer grind and the lady actually hung up on me. Never again!

Perfect every time

Posted Nov 17, 2005 - After reading some of the other reviews I thought I had a different product since I never experienced any of the negative events other reviewers reported. My coffee maker is over a year old and still in perfectly pristine condition, and so is the counter it sits on. It has produced at least one pot of delicious coffee everyday and it gets cleaned after every use. I set it to grind and brew automatically and am rewarded with the smell of freshly prepared coffee each morning. Bravo!

Grind and Boo!

Posted Oct 29, 2005 - 1. Yucky mess after a few weeks of use. The condensation inside the unit results in a sticky residue that forms around the spring hinge for the basket. You have to douse it with hot water to get it clean and that only lasts for a short period of time. 2. Occasionally. the latch on the basket doesn't catch correctly so you end up with coffee all over your counter top and floors. 3. Clean-up in general is an irritant. You have to remove and clean 6 parts each day. The grind chamber gets damp with condensation because of the design. The clean-up for that is nasty. It was much easier when I had two appliances to worry with - a grinder and a nice, mid-priced machine. Fewer parts to wash and cleaner grinding. 4. You will only be able to brew 10-cups max. unless you only care to drink colored water. 5. We are now having a tremendous issue getting the grind chamber out of the pot to clean. My husband has to use the butt end of a screw driver to force it up from the bottom. Otherwise it is impossible to remove. The only good thing about reading these review is that it sounds like this isn't just us ... we were beginning to think we were doing something very wrong! I wonder if Cuisinart is going to respond to my questions about possibly recalling this terribly overpriced piece of junk?

Terrible product

Posted Sep 16, 2005 - We bought this machine over a year ago with high hopes due to the Cuisinart brand. It was more than we'd spent on a coffee maker in the past but since we wanted the fresh grind feature, we went for it. It was the worst purchase! The folks at Cuisinart struck out on this design. It does lull you into a false sense of security and you think it's wonderful....then WHAM....it fails.... So sad for something that looks so good sitting on the counter...

Posted Sep 12, 2005 - Had high hopes for this coffee maker. Completely disappointed. Spilled coffee out of machine everytime we brewed coffee. A significant design flaw exists in this machine. A real mess. Don't buy!

Posted Aug 24, 2005 - Pleased with the coffee maker except for the size of the coffee grinder. Would like to be able to put more beans inside for grinding. Grinder is loud, but makes a good tasting pot of coffee. Impressed with the ability to adjust grind coarseness.

Posted Jun 11, 2005 - What were the folks at Cuisinart thinking? DO NOT BUY! 1. 12 cups are impossible, despite the setting. Makes 8-10 at best. Does not hold enough beans for 12. 2. Cannot 'pre-set' using timer to have a pot ready when you wake up. The water and beans are held in the same area with no seal to prevent condensation in the beans and grinder. If you wet down your beans before grinding then this is the pot for you. 3. Cleaning this is a nightmare. Bad design and very messy with plenty of drippy coffee ooze all over. 4. Had this for one year and it died. Finally satisfied with the product. It actually did something useful. Bought this to replace a Capresso machine that lasted 7 years. Cost was half as much. Not even worth the money I 'saved'.

Posted Dec 20, 2004 - The Cuisinart Grind n' Brew works great and the built-in grinder is relatively quiet. It makes an excellent pot of coffee. I didn't think much of the gold brewing basket that came w/it, but regular filters work well.

Posted Nov 24, 2004 - If I fill the grinder cup with beans and use 12 cups of water I would be hard pressed to determine if I was drinking coffee or tea. The product is NOT as advertised. I'm very disappointed! The measuring scoop is smaller than the scoop that used to be provided with a can of Chock-Full-Of- Nuts, which is what I use as a minimum.

Posted Apr 11, 2004 - If you are looking for a coffeemaker for a coffelover or a coffee virgin, this is the coffeemaker for you. Nothing gets you up in the morning like the smell of freshly brewed coffee. You can set a timer and the coffee will be ready when you wake up...no waiting around!
