Strengths: Reeks of starwars. Graphics are good.
Weakness: The price is a bit much considering you have to pay to play it per month. Massive system hog and time hog. Some quest are incomplet. some files will go corrupt. server kicks you occasionally...
If you like starwars and have tons of time/money to spare this is the game for you. I liked it at first, but then started to hate it when i went a quest that took me 4 hours to complete and i get this little message saying that it was corropt, plus it forced me to reinstall. also don't go into the game thinking you can become a jedi no problem...you cant infact currentally there are no jedi's.

Wow. Reviewing Star Wars Galaxies. Talk about your tough assignments. How do you review a childhood fantasy? For that matter, how do you review the Living in the Star Wars universe fantasy that currently lives inside the head of every gamer worth their salt? Indeed, peruse any message board and what you come across is passionate argument on both sides. One half of the gaming community would have...

LucasArts Star Wars Galaxies: Empire Divided
Strengths: Skill-based advancement system; Uses classic (ANH, ESB, RotJ), new (Eps. I and II), and Expanded Universe content; Player-driven economy; Generally friendly community; Good graphics
Weakness: Bugs still being worked on; One character per server; PvP rather brutal; Quests repetitive and sometimes even boring
I got into Star Wars Galaxies under the free 14-day trial period during the summer of 2004. It was very interesting, had a variety of character choices (race, appearance, profession, abilities), and I enjoyed it very much. As of September 2004, I am still in the game, having bought it, but having gained a lot more knowledge about it.
It is basically like any other Massively Multi-player Online game, where one has a character that one can do quests and run around killing things to get experience and money. There are several planets one can visit, all with different creatures and locations to visit. However, there is not any space combat (due out in an expansion that you have to buy, coming October 2004).
To explain a few of my simple comments, above:
The devs at SOE are still (at least planning on) doing revamps to the game, making it seem a little like it's still within a beta stage, despite it having been around for a couple years.
The PvP seems rather brutal, as it has often been seen where overt Rebels will gang up on overt Imperials (of which there seem to be few), and I have even seen people 'camp' at starports, waiting for an overt to fly in, and to strike them down while they load to the planet.
The quests in the game are varied, depending on what profession one chooses. The common missions one gets from a mission terminal is low-pay and requires quite a bit of effort. Basically, there are two kinds of missions to do: kill things or deliver things. Killing missions get repetitive and old, quite fast. Delivery missions require one to travel great distances, which can take up to an hour of one's time, and the story behind the delivery missions tend to make you wish you were doing a mission based on the content of the story (like training to pilot AT-ATs or hunting down a rogue operative).
Crafting can be enjoyable, even if it is sometimes a little tedious. Many items can be made, and almost all the items in the game are player-made (so, if you have the time and the desire, you could make everything you want, though not all at once).
All in all, the game is decent, but for the price of the game and the monthly charge, it should be more stable and less buggy.
