To know the light, you must see the dark. The legacy of Star Wars Dark Forces and Star Wars Jedi Knight lives on in the intense first-person action of Jedi Outcast. Kyle Katarn returns in exhilarating first-person action. Several years have passed since Kyle avenged his father's death and saved the Valley of the Jedi from Jerec and his band of Dark Jedi. Allowing his Force powers to languish for fear of falling to the Dark side, Kyle set aside his lightsaber, vowing never to use it again. But when a new and menacing threat to the galaxy emerges, Kyle knows he must reclaim his past in order to save his future. minimize

5 Star Review Awesome game

Strengths:

Multiplayer Online will pwn you. Many custom maps and modifications. Don't let people fool you into patching the game to 1.04...just stick with the original version for online play.

Weaknesses:

Many many little bugs but some of those bugs are why people love the game. The original version has better gameplay and freedom of motion than patched versions.

Posted Oct 22, 2006 - Buy it now and never look back. Forget BF2 and Halo and all those other games. JK2 is one of the most unique games out there. Also ffa (free for all) dosen't always mean kill anyone....JK2 has evolved over time and there are other types of play than those described by the authors.

Strengths:

-Amazingly good graphics. -Plenty of levels and difficulties, so no gamer will be disappointed. -Requires little memory, and system requirements are easy to meet for most fairly modern computers.

Weaknesses:

-Some Force powers that were so loved from JKI were removed. -Some glitches remain from JKI, such as characters are able to stand on the very edge of a ledge, practically in midair.

Posted Jul 25, 2003 - Any gamer that likes strategy, role-playing, or action will most definetely treasure this game. It is a perfect blend of adventure and action to create one of the best games designed by Lucasarts so far: Jedi Outcast. The player plays the role of a man named Kyle Katarn. Kyle has seen both sides of the Force. In the previous game, he avenges the death of his father, and comes dangerously close to the Dark side. Afterwards, he gives his lightsaber to Luke Skywalker for safe keeping, afraid of turning to the Dark and misusing his weapon. By the time Jedi Outcast came out, his Force powers were almost down to nothing. Throughout the game, Kyle picks up an array of weapons, explosives, and other items that assist him trhough the game. One problem, however, was that he did not aquire his lightsaber and Force powers until much later in the game, making it extremely hard the first few levels. The multiplayer section is just as enjoyable, including several different maps and game types, such as Free-For-All or Capture the Flag. Overall, the game had a wonderful combination of useful and new Force powers, weapons, allies, and items, and is most definitely a game everyone will love and cherish.

Strengths:

Amazing graphics, great gameplay, great storyline, easy to control the character.

Weaknesses:

Hard to get used to using so many keys for Force Powers, and takes too long to load.

Posted May 19, 2002 - I played this game as soon as I bought it and I honestly did not notice ONE flaw that was enough to discourage me from buying it, or to at least make me think about not buying it for a second even. This game has the best graphics I have ever seen on a PC game to date, which uses the Quake 3 engine for ease of use and control over your character, Kyle Katarn, a Jedi Knight who has seen both sides of the Force. Hell, you don't even need to be a Star Wars fan to have fun playing this game. Pros - Amazing graphics. You will not see a game with any better IN-GAME graphics than with this one. Sure, there are probably a lot of games out or coming out that require certain video cards and the Texture 'n Lighting feature (such as Spider-Man: The Movie), but my friend who has a 550mhz Intel Pentium II, with an ON-BOARD video card, plays this game just as well on his computer as I do on mine (with an 850mhz Pentium III, Radeon 7000 video card, 256mb RAM), and that's saying a lot. The minimum computer requirements for this game are so widely ranged that just about anyone can play it smoothly, even with a relatively out-dated computer system. Cons - Takes FOREVER to load saved games, and even LONGER to load a game for the first time, even on fast systems. Obviously this depends on what you have running in the background but still. Also, the amount of Force Powers combined with the amount of keys you have to press can be overwhelming at first, but you get used to it.

Strengths:

It is the best game I have ever played. The story line is excellent and the graphics kick major a$$. Get to use sweet force powers like grip, lightning, push, pull, speed, and some others.

Weaknesses:

You need to have a pretty big system to get the saved games to load fast. First time takes maybe 2-3 minutes, but after that it takes around 20-30 seconds. I've noticed when you are outside it might b

Strengths:

Tremendous detail. Gradual build up of skills for an easy learning curve. Driving storyline.

Weaknesses:

Protogonast's appearance.

Posted May 7, 2003 - Games based on movies tend to be lacking. I was cautious to purchase this game for that reason. However, the developers paid so much close attention to detail, that I put this game right behind Half-Life in my FPS collection. Why? First and foremost the story. The reason that Half-Life was such a success (in my opinion) was the story. Outcast follows that same lead, giving the player a strong desire to get tot he next level in order to discover what happens next. My biggest surprise in this game was the powerful use of the Light-Saber in conjunction with Force powers. There are scenes in this story which I play over and over again, simply for the feeling of indiscriminate power I have over other characters in the game. The ability to enter a room with 9 Storm Troopers and clean house (with the Light Saber)without being touched is ungodly. I was astounded by the fact that as the game progressed, I might have 12 weapons available, but the light saber was the more than likely best one. Also - the addition of Lando and Luke to the story make you feel like your playing part in a true story, rather than just a game. If you have any interest in FPS, this is worth your time and money.

Strengths:

Outstanding Graphics. Very interestin and flowing story, make you feel like part of the game. Kids friendly (NO GORE)

Weaknesses:

the storm troopers drive me NUTS by running back and forth and shooting you.

Posted Apr 14, 2004 - I wasnt really in SCIFI and i didnt really like and knew what is Star Wars until i bought this game. Now i am in to SciFi and i fell in love with Star Wars. This game is not just for fans of specific genre of the game, it would be very interesting to anyone. Very interesting story and a game with a good plot with addition of outstanding graphics and future weapon realism. And also i like that there is not violence, even when someone dies they dont scream like being in agony rather they sound adventurous, and any kid could play this game. I also love how you can use your lightsaber and perform very dramatic moves, especially when killing another bad guy with a red light saber. After playing this game it makes you want to buy the next game in it's serious, because of such an interesting story. I would recommend this game to anyone, and the better your PC is, there more amazed you will be with this game's graphics.
