Strengths:Story, cars, cars again, weapons, free-form style and execution, cars, mods, the ability to mod the stuff out of it, cars, drive-by style uzi shooting from cars, physics engine, cars.
Weaknesses:Once you have done everything, there is nothing else to do. Slow cars are too slow. Police Corruption (they only shoot, chase, kill, arrest, beat . . . you.)
Posted Dec 29, 2002 - Grand Theft Auto III is the best game title for the Playstation 2, and its port to the PC has only made it better. With all of the original content, the game shines as it did the first time, but with the extra little additions, it is the best game I have ever played. The in-game MP3 player is a wonderful addition for your driving pleasure, and the ability to Mod the stuff out of the game (faster cars, car color, car names, weapon power, ammo capacity, damage to player, messing with the city, and literally tons more) are all of its good points. I run an AMB Athlon Xp2000+ w/ 512 MB pc-2100 ddr ram, Geforce 4 ti 4200 64mb, and Windows XP, with the game at 1280 x 960 resolution, and I have to say it is the most stable and fluid games with frame rates always on the rise, and it only gets better with age. The only thing I absolutely hate of the game is that the Police/Fbi/Army only beat, arrest, shoot, kill, drive over, chase you, and ONLY you. This is not a good thing, but if you know what you are doing, and where the 'police bribes' are around the city, you will do just fine. The selection of missions is astounding, and the variety is something that everybody will find enjoyable. Plus, the cars are the best part of the game. All in all, GtaIII for the PC is one of the most enjoyable games I have played this year, and with the right hardware, you will like it just as much.
