Strengths:

Good graphics, gameplay and its a VERY fun game to play.

Weaknesses:

No naval units.

Posted May 8, 2003 - Air units have definatley become a more deciding factor in the games, they can mass tanks all they want if they have no air defense they are finished. The General star thing is cool as they can turn the game for you or agianst you and the Super-Weapons are AWESOME! Overrall I would recommend this game to fans of C&C or not.

Strengths:

very good gameplay and grafics, pretty good mission's quite long and challenging. Great online gameplay, and downloadable maps!

Weaknesses:

only 3 clan's which is a dissapointment, long intro's to missions no found way of skipping them! And not as many maps as RA2!

Posted Sep 8, 2003 - overall very good game worth the money, great for online games, and hope there will be an even better expansion with more clans and missions, also should be able to skip mission intro!

Strengths:

This game has unbelievable graphics and game play. Units are extremely well designed and the game is down right the best RTS ever with out a doubt.

Weaknesses:

The game does not give you the ability to build navel units, however, I am expecting that ability soon in an add-on. And as far as I can tell there are only 7 missions with each side.

Posted Feb 14, 2003 - There are only 7 missions with each side but they are very fun and hard to complete if you choose to tackle them at the hard level. Well worth your money!

Strengths:

graphics much better than Read Alert 2, the soldiers dont look like cartoons anymore!! It runs pretty smooth, even on my Pentium 3, while some games i have won't. Also has great online play.

Weaknesses:

Can't seem to find a way to skip the intro movies to each level, and they're always like 5 minutes long. Also, some of the maps are to small for a good multiplayer game. 1 player game gets repetative.

Posted Jun 4, 2003 - Over-all good game. Way better than RA2, and has awesome graphics. I really like the advanced weapons: new but not too futureistic. Gets a little choppy durring online play in big battles. 4 outta 5.

Strengths:

Cinematic effects, Graphics: explosions, bombings. That is about it. Good gameplay.

Weaknesses:

GeForce 4 4600 can run at 1024x768 with the occasional video lag. Building and Unit grahpics aren't as good as they should be with the hardware requirements. AI is not good, units forget where to go.

Posted Mar 10, 2003 - In the graphics point of view I am very disapointed. The actual gameplay experience is very satisfying. The graphic beauty of the game isn't there as they promised.

Weaknesses:

Ai isnt the best but not bad

Posted May 14, 2003 - Well worth the money. The GLA is funny to hear them always crying about their feet hurting. Tanks and Planes are great. USA has great spy technoliges, CHina has the overlord build them up and destroy bases

5 Star ReviewI will get strait to the point. This is one of the ...

Strengths:

Being able to chose between 3 completly different Armyies.

Weaknesses:

I feel the maps could be biger.

Posted Apr 25, 2003 - I will get strait to the point. This is one of the best games I have ever played. The introduction of Air to Air combat along with F-22's, Migs, Stealth bomers, Aurora bomers and Comanche attack helicopters has changed the Original Red Alert strategy where the person with the bigest and most Tanks wins. You cant just send tanks you have to be able to protect from planes, land mines, bomb trucks, hijackers and chose your Battle Field because being on top of a cliff will make a difference. You now also get Generals upgrades. The Generals upgrades system is pretty simple you start off as a 1 star general and you then get combat experience form fighting you enemy. For every time you get promoted up a star you get a point to spend (you start off as a one star general every game). You can spend these points on things like a new type of unit or strike (Strikes are like paratroopers, Anthrax or Artillery bombardment). You have to be a certain rank to get some of these upgades (for example to get A-10 srike you have to be a 3 star general) and each army has it own set of Generals upgrades (China has artillery strike, America has A-10 strike and GLA has Anthrax strike). I would recommend this game to any body who likes strategy games.

Strengths:

Live battle feeling, very nice graphic.

Weaknesses:

Require very high end grapihic card.

Posted Feb 25, 2003 - Not Recommand for GeForce256, GeForce2MX, GeForce2Ti, GeForce4MX. I feel angry because this game is not very eye candy graphic, why require GeForce3 GeForce4Ti. 3D unit? I feel Total Annihilation 3D unit is more better than this game.

Strengths:

Brilliant graphics, outstanding gameplay and multiplayer gaming.

Weaknesses:

No ships! What's going on? Also Campaign missions are very short like 7 each, not very hard to complete.

Posted Feb 5, 2004 - brilliant game worth the money. Also alot of people complain about the intro movies when you start up the game, to stop this simply go to C:program filesEa gamesCommand and Conquer generalsDataenglishMovies, and delete all the files in this folder providing you installed the game to the default directory.

Posted Jun 5, 2003 - On the top of the list of all the C&C games really hardcore.I like ther difficulty changes. One thing i didn't like was like warcraft 3 the races got boring if you don't mind me saying it needs more buildings and races also. I liked the maps but there wasn't Many if you know what i mean.Besides the expansions i want to come out it was a good game.

Strengths:

Unit diversity and interaction. Graphics, 3D interaction.

Weaknesses:

Net interface (namely ROUTERS), game interface, various minor points.

Posted May 7, 2003 - I have not played multiplayer yet due to router interferance problems, but I have heard of some good things once you get past that problem. The graphics are cool, but the AI is a little weak. They do not seem to do anything different. Once you figure the pattern to any level or any multiplayer, you just sit, wait it out, and outlast the opponent. Certain things are still a bit unrealistic in regards to size, damage, and cost, but I think it is a hell of a lot more realistic than Yuri's. I will have to agree though, TA was the best RTS game I have played to date, and I hope they eventually pick up the engine and convert it to a true-3D. (It was the only game with custom units, land, sea, air and submersables. The only thing it did NOT have was tunnelers!)

Strengths:

From s solid line of great games. Who wouldn't purchase the next C&C!

Weaknesses:

Memory leaks, Computer above required specs most play on low detail to have the game not slow down before end of first mission

Posted Apr 12, 2003 - I bought the game because I was a fan of all the past (well I dont count Renegade) C&C games. The play style on all past C&C was identicle. This new version is differnt. On any setting above low graphic detail, the game runs in slow motion. Even on low graphic detail the game begains to lag and run slow after each successful scenario requiring a restart then pick up where you left off. I was extremely dissapointed there was no opening movie as in the past C&C's and no busty female giving you your mission. To me it seamed like they came out with a new game to compete with The new AGE game: Age of Mythology. Age of Mythology rocks, C&C Generals needs some serious help.

Strengths:

Nothing noteworthy. Unit upgrade are nice.

Weaknesses:

AI is weak. Build controls are bothersome. Fire controls for special weapons are bothersome (Partical Cannon, etc.)

Posted Nov 9, 2004 - Holy Crap...how disappointing! I've been a fan of the Westwood C&C games for years, but it seems that EA has totally abandoned what made them great...STORY!!! The Westwood games all had great stories and cinema between campaigns. Heck, in the original, they had James "Freakin!" Earl Jones and Michael Biehn acting in them. I can still remember one video sequence in the original where playing as the GDI, you're cut off from communication and your screen shows a rapidly scrolling list of com locations where you're connections keep failing...until you finally get a connection via Las Vegas, baby, yeah! That was sooo cool! Before I comment on Generals, I must disclose that I've only played the US forces...but it was so disappointing, I may not bother with the other two factions. As I've said, the story is weak and there's no cinema, just ho-hum animation clips. There are only six campaigns and all of them are "destroy all the enemy forces", nothing special, nothing unique for you special commando to do, etc. Creating units, especially troops, is troublesome since you're limited to a max of nine requests at a time. You should be able to queue at least 15-20 troops at once. There are no onscreen menus for builds while in the field. You have to be at your base, clicked on the appropriate building,to see your build options and create whatever. In the field, a "General" should be able to command more troop/armor builds without having to physically be in his base. For building it's understandable since you have to place them. In truth, I suspect this game was created primarily for skirmish and heads-up play. I haven't tried those features yet, but it probably works fine for that. The game ran fine for me, unless I'd had it running for hours...in which case it got clunky. This surprised me since I'm playing it on a 2.8GHz P4 system w/ a 256MB X700 ATI Radeon PCI-Express video card and 1GB of DDR2 memory. Restarting the game fixed this problem. My conclusion, C&C games are no longer an option for me as long as EA is producing them. RugerAoh

Strengths:

Very nice 3D RTS, fast game play, smooth graphics, great voice overs.

Weaknesses:

Size of maps (small), 1 player gets old fast, all fighting no other stratigy involved. This game still has problems with some graphics cards.

Posted May 15, 2003 - All and all a good game to have. People who like action/RTS games will love this game...Hardcore RTS fans will like it but leave the game feeling like they need more (kind of like chin. food). I would give this game a higher rating if it comes out with a good expansion (larger maps, more than 3 races).
