Stong Storinline. Nice Online gameplay for those who aren't into a simple deathmatch.
Can get monotonous at times.
Posted May 7, 2003 - I've historically tended to avoid games published by Microsoft. However, this game was a good purchase. THe basis is a stereotypical search for alien artifacts. However, the cutscenes (built on the game engine I'll add) keep you interested in continuing through each mission. If you liked "them Epire Strikes Back" arcade game, then this is definately a game for you. It doesn't have as much of a 3-D feel as something like Descent, but the engineers have made a valient attempt to allow as much "true space" movement as possible without rendering the game over-complex (as far as playability is concerned.) All of the action takes place in space, in the form of dog-fight Star Wars Episode 3 type battles. The story-line takes place as you dock with planets in numerous star systems (via cut-scenes.) If you're into exploration, there is plenty here. And there are different paths you can take throughout the game to make money for new ships and weapons. The game takes a few weeks of moderate playtime to complete, although you can keep advancing after the story ends (but I suggest taking it online after you complete the single player missions.) The game can be monotonous at times, as there is little strategy, snd many of the ships controls become oblsolete during battle. However, the game will retain your interest enough to be satisified that you purchased it.
