Posted Nov 2, 2003 - Summary: This is a great game. Sniper mode is especially awesome. The campaigns are a little short, but you can always try to play online. Unfortunately, most online games degenerate into free-for-alls even with teams and those less experienced with first person shooters are at a definite disadvantage. Graphics: Awesome graphics with great details. I like the scorch marks on the walls and floors from heavy weapons fire. Sound: If you have a 5.1 system, you'll definitely love it... especially the Saving Private Ryan moments from shell shock, and then hearing the bullets whizzing by. Directional sound helps you locate where the bullets are coming from. Gameplay: run and gun or snipe away, your choice. Bonus: Tank campaigns are fun. Rumble around Germany in a tank and you can even destroy buildings with your shells. Conclusion: Get this now and have fun!

Strengths:

Great graphics, Very good levels of difficulty, very consuming, once you start it is hard to stop

Weaknesses:

Cannot use all large the weapons when they are used in the scene. i.e. tanks or artillery pieces

Posted Dec 1, 2003 - Excellent FPS . I liked it better than 1942 and I thought 1942 was very good(all 3 titles). The controls are similar to other FPS as far as movement. It was quick to learn. There are a variety of scenes. I miss not having binoculars but like being able to carry 2 different rifles. Ideally I like to carry one machine gun and one rifle( hopefully w/scope to use for spotting). I wish there was a menu for each battle like 1942 so you can pick and choose which battles to go back and play again. For example the tank battles are my favorite. In 1942 you can go back and play it again and again with many different strategies.

Strengths:

-Graphics feature motion blur and hi rez textures. -The overall polish of the game really shines. -When the graphics are cranked and you hear it in DD5.1, you will then know why you own a pc.

Weaknesses:

Although its supports 3d sound... you wont have the best gaming experience without an audigy since the reverb only works on audigys. (I have soundstorm with 5.1 dolby digital encoding)

Posted Dec 20, 2003 - The game has a feel to it unlike any other. I first tried out this game not expecting much, but now it has my vote for GOTY. These developers sure know what they are doing, which isnt surprising since the majority of the crew who made medal of honor quit and formed a new dev team. I bought it for $35, but i would have gladly forked out $50 for this gem.

Highly addictive gameplay with killer graphics and ...

Strengths:

Great Gameplay, Sound and Graphics and intense action

Posted Nov 23, 2003 - Highly addictive gameplay with killer graphics and sound. Get ready to go to war with COD it is not as good as the Battlefield series but it is extermelly close. This FPS shooter grabs you on the Battlefield and transports you back to WWII where the fighting is intense and just won't let you go. Its a very impressive game and a must own in my book.

Posted Nov 30, 2003 - i'm not even a fan of FSP games, but i heard/read that the single player campaign was good, so i tried it. i was immediately hooked. i liked the fact that you play as a member of 3 different armies - American, British, and Russian (in that order). the voice acting for each NPC was well done too IMO. nearly every aspect of this game is good. the graphics look very nice. the attention to detail was really cool. also, i'm no WWII historian, but the weapons looked very authentic and realistic. the ability to use each weapons sites by right clicking was a nice touch. the sound quality of CoD was what impressed me the most. the intense battle scenes sound so good on my 5.1 Audigy system that it felt like i was practically there. for me it's the sounds that make the game so immersive. if you don't have a 5.1 sound system, i'd recommend getting one to play this game. ;) the AI was good too IMO. your allies (and your enemies) will make good use of cover most of the time. i can honestly say that CoD is one of the best experiences i've had in a PC game. i'd highly recommend it.

This is one of the first games I have played and i ...

Strengths:

Very fast paced, something coming at you all the time. The timed areas are exciting.. Graphics are great. It really gives you a sense of what people had to endure. The Russian's had it very difficult.

Weaknesses:

I think it would be nice to have view from behind your character with a toggle, it would give a greater overview of your current situation.

Posted Jan 10, 2004 - This is one of the first games I have played and it still is a challenge. I'm not sure what level I have reached, but definately becoming more difficult. Thanks for the enjoyment.

Strengths:

Realistic action, good graphics, very good detail and use of real WWII equipment

Weaknesses:

A bit difficult to load...Make sure your screen saver is completely off

Posted Nov 18, 2003 - Terrific first person WWII Action...Great use of sound and action to make you feel like you are really in the thick of combat,,,Its good to be able to get and give orders as well as knowing that other characters will be following your lead...Great use of authentic WWII gear and true to life weapon sounds...Glad to see that they actually used WWII re-enactors to test the game and also to verify that they are using the right gear and correct WWII paratrooper terminology...The Krauts arent too bad either :)

Strengths:

Graphics,Gameplay,Aiming, Realism,Guns are historicaly correct GREAT MULTIPLAYER

Posted Feb 18, 2004 - I have been playing ww2 games for a couple of years now. None of them have given the realism and intense gameplay. Yea alot of you guys are thinking WHAT ABOUT MEDAL OF HONOR... MOH is horribly inaccurate and the only think half amazing was D-day. But lets talk about COD. Cod has some of the best Weapon sounds you will have ever witnissed. I was incredibly amazed on how stunningly accurate the MG42 sounds were. The M1 Garand is preety nice too. I would buy this game again if i had to. If you have a chance to get it YOU BETTER GET IT! The biggest downside of this game is the single player.. I completed it in 7 hours.. So i recomend playing online and DO PLAY WITH A CABLE OR DSL LINE. Have fun :)

Posted Nov 29, 2003 - This is the the best WWII game every made, and believe me because I played every single one of them. The weapons function, sound, and handle like the real weapons and trust me I shot every single one of the them(the real ones, my uncle is a WWII gun collector). The game looks and sounds great for it's low reqirement. The best of all is the AI. Your squad can think, talk and act like real soldiers and so does the enemy, for exaple your team can give support fire to help you flank the enemy and the Nazis could flank you, threw back grenade, shot over corner, and fall back if the resistense is too great(don't worry, they don't do this very often, afterall they are Nazis). The main drawback is that it's too short only about 10-14 hours, but there is a awsome multiplayer option, and it will make you addicted to it. All in all, this game is great! It's definitely worth $50. and I bet you will lose a lot of sleep.

Strengths:

Action packed! 7 out of 10 graphics, great physics. Fun to play with bots that have good AI.

Weaknesses:

As with most games your visual idea as to what you can fit through and what the game lets you do is different. One complaint the grenade training got a little bothersome, much too long.

Posted Feb 21, 2004 - Very realistic, you feel like you're really in danger. I had to pause a couple of times for a time out just catch my breath. Nice to have different levels of skill, I tried the hard level and I can't count how many times I got killed, had to really think about what I was getting my self into, really had to think, think, think!

Strengths:

Intense, fast-paced gameplay. Excellent AI. Great Graphics (for a Quake 3 Engine game). Play US, Russian, British Storylines. Lots of Multiplayer servers already out there.

Weaknesses:

Short. Multiplayer could have been more innovative. Expensive for what you get.

Posted Nov 5, 2003 - I tried the demos of this game, and I was hooked immediately. The full version did not disappoint me, perhaps because I already knew it would be short. I really appreciate the multi-national perspective on the game. I wish there were more opportunities to play the less "popular" scenarios of WWII. There's a wonderful cinematic quality to the game, although story isn't its strong point. Very immersive and addictive. The multiplayer is good, very similar to Medal of Honor, but the addition of the "kill cam" really adds to the gameplay. On the other hand, Battlefield 1942 has nothing to worry about. Overall, a very strong game. Worth playing, and worth buying.

Let's face it, there have been a rash of good WWII ...

Strengths:

Great graphics, despite using the now-dated Quake III engine. Excellent gameplay.

Weaknesses:

No much of a storyline. Single Player a little short.

Posted Nov 26, 2003 - Let's face it, there have been a rash of good WWII-based First Person Shooters of late ... Battlefield 1942 and Medal of Honor come to mind. I've played both, and what I like about Call of Duty (and it's not a minus, despite how it may sound) is that it's more derivative than innovative. It's sorta more of the same, and that's not bad. The single-player component of Call of Duty is great, but not too long. The multiplayer component of is what will keep you playing the game. There are five different multiplayer modes--Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch (both staples, right?), "Behind Enemy Lines" (kinda like keep-away), and two Counter-Strike-style objective-based modes (one called "Retrieval," where one team tries to recover important documents from under the other team's nose, and another, called "Search and Destroy," where one team attempts to blow up an objective that is being defended by the other team). Bottom line: if you're looking for a good action game, whether or not you've played MOH or BF1942, this is it.

Posted Dec 14, 2003 - After playing the 2 demos for this game I could hardly wait for the full version. The graphics are amazing and the sound is outstanding. The action has you feeling that you are actually experiencing the real thing. Isn't it strange that you can actually get tense and feel exhausted when you complete some sequences.

Posted Nov 25, 2003 - I think this game is better than MOH. The gameplay is intense and the screenshots and weapons are authentic looking. It is nice to be able to right click and be able to use sights for the specific weapon selected. I do hope they come out with a sequel. This is a must for anyone who lovees first person shooters. I have yet to try the multiplayer but can't wait.

Fun to play. Nice selection of weapons.

You have to get to the "go" point before the 'bots' will move.

Posted Feb 3, 2004 - I enjoy playing and am looking forward to playing on line as I have only played single games so far. I have played 1942 and MOHAA and both about the same. COD is a different slant to it and seems to be fun so far. Keep hitting F5 to save as you never know where they will come from. Over all, I give it about a 7 out of 10 for fun and 8 out of 10 for playing. If you have 1942 you will notice a large difference between the games. I miss using tanks and the like but you learn to use what you have as a grunt also. Good luck to all and maybe see you in a multi game soon. SP6_Adamson
