you get what you pay for
Strengths:design, lcd display, touch-screen-type buttons, speakerphone, calendar/date/time, caller id, calculator, 2-line input.
Weaknesses:power source, night-light drains batteries quickly, quiet speakerphone, loud ringer and loud key tones.
Posted Mar 19, 2006 - got mine at walgreens for $10, a pretty good deal. but it's not perfect for what it does.
i wish it could be plugged in instead of wasting 3 AA batteries every few months. (BIG negative.)
the ringer volume can't be set, and as such, it is very loud. that's annoying.
and, the key tones are very loud, through either the handset or speakerphone. and the sp-phone is otherwise quiet - you have to get real close to hear the person talking.
i also wish there was some way to show the caller id's name information - as it is, it only shows the number.
the handset is pretty good, but it caters to lefties - just look what side you have to pick it up on!
i'd recommend to not use the night-light - it drains batteries, and can make you lose information easier. but that's not what i bought it for anyway. however, do notice which color model you're getting. i got the gray one, and it looks great. but if you're a guy, you might not want the blue one, because the plastic cover over the night-light has a pinkish tint to it. that's exactly why i went for gray.
also, this phone has 2 line-in jacks, so it can answer calls from two lines. unfortunately, the same-sounding ring is used for both lines.
