Posted Feb 28, 2005 - Bought a Motorola V300 cell phone - critical feature that I could sync contacts with Outlook 2003. Well, bought the software afterwards, "Mobile Phone Tools", and it simply does not work. At one stage I actually did get a sync to go but it would double up contacts rather than sync them. But now the software has corrupted itself (depite uninstalling and reinstalling it). I can load the phonebook but it errors out when reading the phone contents. Tried contacting BVRP who wrote the software but they evaded all attempts to contact them, call Motorola they said. Tried to contact Motorola but they will not help. I still get more advertising from them (they want me to buy more software - ha!). Surprises me that a company of this reputation would try to dump unusable product on the unsuspecting public. Now I have a V300 cell phone - and NO WAY to sync the contacts with Outlook (sigh!). Anyhow - my recommendation is to avoid it like the plague, even if it means not buying a Motorola phone.

Motorola Mobile Phone Tools

Posted Feb 4, 2006 - Although the Motorola Mobile Phone Tools program was not the most current edition, I was able to locate the most up to date edition and download it. The real problem was that it took several steps to download and install. This is not something that folks unfamiliar with computers might want to tackle! I know that the seller just can't take the time to instruct all purchasers in the technique of this particular program, so if the seller would just annotate that to obtain updates, the buyer should be quite familiar with computers, that might keep people from being unhappy. I'm not disappointed, just commenting for those who may find the process difficult. It most certainly is worth the purchase.

Connectivity Issues

Posted Jun 10, 2006 - After the updates were installed (Ver 3.28), functionality immediately increased. Unfortunately, upon testing out the features from mobile exploring, to image or sound uploading, the connection ceased to exist. It would not establish a connection, necessitating removal from the USB port, and restarting the program. From there, the connection was quickly re-established, and the outlook contact synch would work, but would immediately fail once more when attempting to explore or upload media. I'm scouring the web for an update, or fix, or easier correction method; other than resorting to a reformat and re-installation of XP and everything else under the sun. It may have worked well for others, but so far this program is utterly useless to me.

Posted Mar 15, 2005 - A great idea, unfortunately executed poorly. I don't know who is to blame for the poor performance of this product, Motorola or Cingular? My guess is Cingular because they want you to pay for the ability to transfer data from your PC to your phone. I have the Motorola V551 and its ability to play MP3 ringtones, Camera, and Edge Capabilities are what made me interested in this phone. I thought that the capabilities of the Mobile Phone Tools would help me circumvent Cingulars proprietary influence over this phone, I was wrong.

Posted May 24, 2005 - I would NOT recommend buying this. IF you do, google the support forums for Outlook import for this product. You will NOT find a solution. I can't believe they claim it works. Rediculous.

Cable is great but cannot get software to work

Posted Aug 10, 2005 - I purchased this on clearance from Office Depot. I've previously had a USB cable (generic - from ebay) and it broke within a few uses. However, this Motorola cable is of clearly superior quality. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get the software to work with my Motorola V551 phone. I'll keep trying...

Good product

Posted Jan 21, 2007 - The data backup ability on the phone is very good. Which is pretty much why I purchased it. Works with Motorola v551 and v365. I would definitely continue to use this tool as long as I have Motorola phones.

Motorola PhoneTools - Too Hot!

Posted Nov 15, 2006 - Motorola's PhoneTools photos are too sexy. There is no need for that. I just want to synch up my Outlook; I do not need to see young people apparently ready for sex. I am embarrassed to boot up the application with my wife sitting next to me.

Cell Phone

Posted Aug 18, 2006 - I received the wrong cable and the outdated software that was supposed to be up-gradable - NOT. I notified the seller of the situation and the seller wants me to send back the wrong cable and charge more for the correct cable than the original price.

Mobilephone tools

Posted May 10, 2006 - Had problems with the old version and got this one (4). Night and day improvement. Works perfectly with bluetooth. I had no problems transfering either way. The software is great. I don't know about the cable though as I don't use it.

Big software issues. A good charger, though!

Posted Mar 29, 2006 - Media transfer does not work recognizing and transferring photos to PC. It just freezes when you click on a phone folder and disconnects the phone, necessitating a reboot. I have a V323 with windows 2000 (and tried it on an XP install, too). It is nice to have the charger function and download tones/pics to your phone but I would like to get what I pay for.
