Loads of fun

Strengths:

Loads of fun creating videos and ring tones. Works great.

Weaknesses:

Sometimes has a problem connecting to the phone but seems that if I restart both the software and the phone then it always starts working again.

Posted Jan 23, 2007 - We've had a great time creating ring tones from our mp3 files. This works great. It sometimes has a problem connecting to the phone but seems that if I restart both the software and the phone then it always starts working again. Overall, I'd recommend this product.

Posted Jan 8, 2007 - The software was straighforward to install, registration was automatic, and software updates were made before even using the product for the first time. Configuration to my specific phone took a little time (without documentation to refer to) but software performed satisfactory afterwards.

It allows for easy transfer of files between my V3 and my computer, allowing custom ringtones and visuals for important phone numbers, as well as the ability to back everything up. I read someone elses recommendation to get MPT ver. 4. They were right.

extremely low price

Strengths:

easy to use.

Weaknesses:

Have had a little trouble getting phone to connect to computer.

Posted Dec 12, 2006 - I haven't tried to use all the features of this software yet. I made backing up my phone book and tranfering my photos to my computer a snap. Sometimes when I connect the phone the software has trouble connecting to the phone. At the price I got this online I am overall happy with the purchase.

Strengths:

Weaknesses:

some phones lock out what sort of data can be transferred

Posted Dec 7, 2006 - The ability to use Outlook to create and manage calendar appointments and contact information, and for that information to be moved back and forth between the PC and the phone is invaluable if changing phones, and a great usability tool for day-to-day usage

Great product!

Product does what I thought it would! Went to Best Buy to purchase same product and they wanted quadruple the price.

Posted Nov 16, 2006 - I highly recommend this product. If you purchase at any well known stores you are going to pay a whole lot more. I have a different phone then what the product was intended for, but it works great with my phone and installation was a breeze

Posted Oct 25, 2006 - This item is fantastic. It allows me to create ring tones and transfer them to my phone. This saves me so much money. You can also use it to get pictures off of your camera phone.

does the job

Strengths:

allows you to connect to your computer to transfer files etc without using your minutes etc

Weaknesses:

cable fitting hard to use

Posted Oct 23, 2006 - Unfortunately Motorola used a horrible connection piece for many of their phones. They are known to have issues with chargers so I'm not suprised to see that the cable for this also has connection problems. Hope to see that fixed in ALL future models.

Not as seamless as DataPilot, a competitive offering from a 3rd-party software company.

Posted Oct 10, 2006 - Most of my complaints are related to the fact that I don't like Outlook or Outlook Express' Address book. If this product would interface with a csv file or tab delimited format, it would be much easier to use and more universal. Nonetheless, it does work. After using a DataPilot product, it did seem like a step in the wrong direction. But, DataPilot did not interface with the Moto L2 I just purchased.

Motorola Phone Tools 4.0

Strengths:

Seems to synchronize phone contacts OK with MS Outlook.

Weaknesses:

No manual for installation or use. Calendar items are limited in terms of number of characters and fields (no addresses).

Posted Oct 8, 2006 - So far, I have not been very impressed. The original disk was warped which required a new disk being sent. I am not sure I would recommend this but if only limited capabilities are needed it would seem to be OK.

Poor, minimal packaging caused CD to arrive damage ...

Posted Oct 1, 2006 - Poor, minimal packaging caused CD to arrive damaged. Not very trusting company. Insisted I send the bad cd back before they sent a new one. Took over a week after I received the product before I could actually it. I would probably not purchase from this company again. Price was the only deciding factor.

Ok I guess

Does NOT have all features activated for the Motorola E815 like the Motorola website states.

Posted Sep 5, 2006 - Verizon, and I've also heard Nextel, had disabled the ability to load anything into your phone, so Mobile Phone Tools 4.0 is largely useless, except for backing up your Contacts.

Good, but not perfect yet

Strengths:

Very good at making ringtones, screensavers, transferring data to phones. Allows charging of phones through USB connection.

Weaknesses:

Does not allow me to pipe a phone call through my computer mic and speakers as far as I can see, even though you can dial from your computer. I need to reinstall and redetect the phone every time I s

Posted Aug 31, 2006 - If you can get this software with a cable for less than 20 bucks, it is totally worth it. There are some things that I think need to be addressed, like having to redect the phone every so often and not being able to use my computer mic and speakers for calls, but the strengths still outweigh the weaknesses. Being able to make your own ringtones and screensavers is awesome, as is the easy to use file transfer studio. I use this software on my Razr V3 and my Razr V3i, and it works well. Would buy again.
