Could be better
Strengths:Many features. Good User Interface
Weaknesses:Has trouble connecting with some phones. Drivers not up-to-date, even after product update.
Posted Mar 12, 2007 - This is a good tool for your Motorola phone...if you can get it to work. I have a RAZR v3m for Sprint, which is in the list of phones that work with this tool. However, after hours of searching into why I couldn't connect to the phone, I finally found info on drivers right from Motorola's website. They say to install MPT4.0, and THEN update drivers using their own driver update software. If Motorola endorses MPT, why doesn't it have proper drivers for their phones? Even after doing this, some apps within MPT seem to have trouble running, connecting with the phone consistently, reading info from the phone which should be readable... I had to tell MPT that I actually had a different phone than the one I own in order to get the MultiMedia Studio features of MPT to work. That really shouldn't be necessary
The features in MPT that have worked consistently for me are great. I can save files to the phone's external memory card without having to remove it from the phone (although putting the card in a card reader gives you a much faster transfer speed). Adding ringtones is easy with MPT; so is saving photos to your PC from the phone.
If being able to interface with your phone through a Bluetooth connection is going to be a selling point for you, you may want to reconsider. I've never been able to get a Bluetooth connection to my phone within MPT. However, connecting via a USB cable is not only faster than transferring through Bluetooth, but you will also be able to charge your phone as you transfer files, this is definitely the way to go.
Overall MPT4.0 is a good tool, if you can get all the features to work.
