Required Version for Vista Ultimate x64 Bit - Enterprise will not install!
Versatile for several versions of Microsoft OS.
Well, it's SQL Server. Do you like SQL Server more or Oracle? (I'm an Oracle guy, myself).
Posted Jan 27, 2008 - After much frustration while trying to install the Enterprise Edition on Vista x64 Ultimate, I discovered that version is not compatible with said OS. See Link - users like me must use Developer Edition. technet.microsoft.com/... Interestingly, you won't see error messages per se (while trying to install the incompatible version of SQL Server), you will only experience greyed-out boxes, and perhaps install requirements hurdles, but eventually you will figure out how to get it installed. Then, when you try to simply create a new database, you will find this impossible, and spend *weeks* looking for reasos why. Take the easy route! Install Developer Edition instead!
