Strengths: It's powerful, easy to manage, easy to control. For me Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer are the best tools, while working with databases.
Weakness: Works on Windows only. You have to download and update it with Service Pack 3a which is about 167MB, totally. But you know you can wait for Yukon, too.
Developer Edition is designed for development and testing purposes. That's why there's NO restriction on functionality. Only restriction is on LICENSE.
I find MS SQL Server 2000 so reliable, so fast and also so easy to use. Especially if you are a Windows platform developer, you should consider its advantages.
Developer Edition of MS SQL Server is completely the same version of Enterprise Edition. The only difference is license and price of course. So you can develop your database or applications on Developer Edition, and if it suits you you can purchase the Enterprise or other versions considering your needs.

TopCould any one explain Whats the license about ?
This is a rip off!!!!!! You can buy this same version at Microsoft for $50! The license allows only for development purposes, ie, consultants, developers etc. You cannot use this in production.
Anyway, this is a rip off. Just call Microsoft and ask them.
Strengths: Price
Weakness: It has met all of my requirements.
For the price, you can't beat this full featured version for learning purposes. Microsoft actually understands that for people to learn the software, they must be able to afford it.

TopStrengths: UNICODE Support. Multiple languages. Easy administration.
Weakness: Limited to Microsoft platform.
Needed a robust product for development of mulitple language data. Microsoft SQL Server has proven to be stable, reliable, and consistent. Administration is straight forward. Hardware requirements are fair.

Strengths: Very Robust, secured and very very user friendly..
Weakness: Only works on windows
Good for big application development, has capability to handle large ammount of data. I dont have any idea about the license part what the other reviewers have mentioned.. But still i would recommend this product to all those who are looking for a good Database Tool for application Development.
