d_esmond - (October 15, 2007) I'm surprised to be writing the first review for this dehumidifier here at pricegrabber. If you look around there are lots of bad reviews elsewhere for the DE500P. I took a chance, however, mainly because I bought it at Costco for a great price, and Costco offers a very generous return policy, so I felt safe purchasing it there, knowing that if it broke in a reasonable amount of time I could simply return it for a refund. I hope I am not jinxing myself after three months, but so far it has been working great in my moderately humid (during the summer months) basement. I've never owned (nor needed) a dehumidifer before buying a house with a basement, so this year I went around looking fo

5 Star Review P3 Kill a Watt Electricity Meter P4400

TheCatos - (October 01, 2005) Plug it in to the wall outlet and get a reading on the volts, line freq, plug in an appliance and see what amps, watts, power factor, Kilo-watts and time pluged in. So quick math for ya. Watts multiplied by .72=(answer) multiplied by what you pay for a kilo-watt of electricity. Example (Light)60watt X .72=43.2X.12(cents)= $5.18 Monthly OR Time with Kwh Kwh multiplied by your Kwh rate then divide it by the time you had it pluged in. Best to get an hour straight for simply items that do not fluctuate much. Your fridge, best get a good week or so. Its fun to use and quite an eye opener for what sucks up some watts when turned off..such as vcr, tvs, computer systems

1 Star Review WHIRLPOOL = CHINESE-MADE JUNK

tubbienine - (April 23, 2006) Nowadays, it seems like all the great household American name brands are nothing more than pretty names. All seem to sell cheap, guaranteed to break soon, Chinese junk. I always believed Whirlpool was one of the best US manufacturers. I purchased one of their dehumidifiers and after 3 months, it stopped working. I took it back and the dealer gave me a brand new one. BRAND NEW and immediately out of the box, the compressor sounded like it was going to explode. It was louder than my shop air compressor engine and I jumped ever time the thing turned on. After running in a humid Florida garage for a week, the tank was as dry as when I got it out of the box. This time, this one NEVER ever worked!

5 Star Review Quiet and effiicient

RJMoss - (11/11/2009) Bought this to replace our old Maytag dehumidifier. We are extremely happy with it. Our power bill is down and we can maintain the humidity in the range we need.

4 Star Review Quiet, effective unit

jljansen - (07/01/2009) This unit was purchased for an elementary classroom. It was very effective at moisture removal - typically being emptied in the morning and again when the school day ended. It maintained consistent humidity in a large room. It is very quiet and was unobtrusive even when running during lectures.

2 Star Review 2 Yr Compressor Life

UI_Alum78 - (05/31/2009) Won't buying anything offered by Haier again. My last dehumidifier's compressor was going strong after 10 years. Had to replace it due to a refrigerant leak. Save yourself some money and aggravation and look elsewhere.
