2 Star Review DLink DSM-320

PCeye - (January 22, 2006) I set up a wireless network in my home, and already having my own PC set up as a media server I figured I could use the DSM 320 as a replacement interface for my AV system. I sent my media PC to the basement wired to the router. Prior to purchasing the DSM-320 I wrote DLink Canada asking if the device supported WPA-PSK wireless security (as the other older protocols are easily hacked) and was advised that it did support WPA-PSK. Unfortunately tech support was incorrect. It only supported the older and weak WEP protocol. They apologized and told me it is in the next firmware revision, that has yet to be seen. My firmware revision remains at 1.05ca as of January 2006. If security is imp

1 Star Review Worth the Wait - Updated: Not worth the wait!

CareyBe - (February 23, 2006) The WMB54G has been a long time coming. Despite the wait, it gives the Apple Airport a run for its money with excellent sound quality and a number of connection possibilities including RCA plugs and an optical connector. I've been listening to my MP3 files wirelessly now for several days without a glitch. The compact footprint allows the unit to easily fit in my stereo cabinet allthough the RCA plugs were difficult to use with any cables other than the one supplied due to the plastic housing which inexplicably covers most of the access to them. Linksys' has a novel approach which is different from Apple's in that software drivers allow any and all sound from your computer to be redirec

suppperj - (February 18, 2006) This has been one of the best purchases I've ever made. The wireless has been flawless and I've only found a few files that wouldn't play. I managed to set up a server on my computer and stream video/music within minutes. If you're looking to get your videos and music off your computer and onto your tv or surround sound system this is the perfect product for you.

1 Star Review This Player Does Not Support MAC Hard Drives

dylan915 - (11/03/2009) I bought this product because I thought the idea was great. Im tired of DVDs all over the place, and I wanted an intelligent MENU DRIVEN product that I could store movies on, and actually browse through a MOVIE MENU to see what's in the drive. I have a brand new Seagate 320 Gig hard drive, but apparently its a Mac format, so immediately after setting up the entire system, I turn on the WD TV Box, and the first thing that pops up on my screen is that it does not support the format. There is no menu to see the films that I had stored , about ten for the test. Still it says it will play the movie, which it did, but there was a lot of black clogged pixilation on the images of all the films I tested. Bottom line is YES, I guess I should have asked the people at Best Buy if this product supported Mac. You'd think with Mac now at almost 40 percent of PC users that companies like Western Digital would format their products to accept Mac hard drives. Im not sure if the poor video quality is because the products don't sync, or if this is actually what the WD TV quality is, but either way I'm really pissed off . I don't recommend this product to any Mac users who expect quality from their products !!

5 Star Review Good unit

229guy - (09/04/2009) Mine is connected wirelessly 54g to my home belkin 54g router in Delaware. I am currently living in South Korea. I can watch tv and DVR on my 5 MBps internet connection which is much better than the 10ch I get now! The picture is fantastic at about 4 ft from the monitor. And almost perfect from by bed at 8ft FULL SCREEN on a 22". I love this thing! Read the quickstart a few times before you hook it up and you should have no problems. Only problem I had was my belkin 54g router, which the location free software told me how to fix! A+

2 Star Review Great product unless....

lraetoo - (03/12/2009) This is a great product however I can no longer use it. I was told by the Sony technician that my problem is there are too many wireless users in my neighborhood. Freestation needs a clear channel to receive video. It seems that in order for me to use the wireless function on my Freestation, I now need to have a stand-alone MIMO router (in addition to the router/modem I already have). My question to him was..."So I guess folks in NYC can't use Freestation huh
