5 Star Review Perfect for the average piano enthusiast!

Strengths:

Sounds great for the price, looks like it's worth a lot more, feels durable, has very authentic action and good song library

Weaknesses:

The pedals make a little squeaky noise, the sound can be a little "canny" (sounds like it's coming out of a tin can), settings reset when you play a demo song, no labels for a lot of settings

Posted Nov 23, 2007 - I recently received this piano after my old Casio keyboard broke. This new piano is a major upgrade from my keyboard; it actually looks, feels, and sounds like a real piano! Ok, that may be sort of an overstatement, but for the price, I doubt there is a better digital piano in terms of looks, sound, price, and overall feel. Of course, there are some weaknesses, but they are expected due to the low price. However, I have never felt that these weaknesses detracted from the piano in anyway. The first thing you'll notice after you've assembled the PX700 is how good it looks. In all the pictures online, it shows the piano without the cover, but normally, the keys will be closed by the cover. The PX700 has a very nice cover that makes the whole piano look authentic and pleasing. Other than the good looks, the piano also has good keyboard action. When you press a key, it actually bounces back into place just like a real piano! The keys have a nice solid feel to them, and when you press down, you hit a soft surface, not a solid hard surface like most traditional keyboards. There are a few things that are potentially annoying about the PX700. One of them is that you have no idea what your settings are because there is no LCD. However, I like the fact that there is no LCD; when I am playing the PX700, I don't feel like I'm playing something digital at all! Of course, without an LCD, you don't know when your settings reset (it does it when you play any demo songs). Other than that, the settings are rather intuitive except for the fact that Casio did not label a lot of the keys needed for some to of the tone and DSP settings. You will need to memorize which keys change these settings.

5 Star Review Great Piano

Strengths:

rich grand-piano sound, keys and pedals feel just like a real piano, save space yet looks amazing

Weaknesses:

the height of the piano is a little shorter than expected, but still feel very comfortable

Posted Mar 5, 2006 - I got this piano for my girl-friend as Valentine's day surprise, and it did the trick. The piano is quite easy to assemble, under an hour it is set up in her room and looks amazing. She has been playing on the piano daily since, and she said the keys and pedals feel just like a real piano (she has a grand-piano at home), and the sound is excellent, as close to the real thing as you can expect. Also, it has a slide-type keyboard cover that fits quite nicely. There are 2 speakers under the keyboard and sound quality remains the same when you raise or lower the volume. If you prefer to practice without interupting neighbors, there are 2 headphone jacks. My piano came with a free bench and a free headphone, when I put on headphone on and play on the keyboard, it feels like the sound is still coming from the piano speaker, very comfortable. The only minor complaint is that the piano is a little shorter than expected, but the free bench fits nicely and comfortably. She didn't use much of the extra features such as song list or record song, but these are not important. Over-all, this a great digital piano with the Grand piano sound and feel, we both like it very much and recommend it if you can't afford a grand piano.

5 Star Review great for the price

Strengths:

Inexpensive, nice appearance, great-feeling fully weighted keyboard, good sound, 3 pedals.

Weaknesses:

Sound is a little too bright which makes it somehow electronic. Sound attenuates a little too fast.

Posted Nov 17, 2006 - I bought this as a present to my 8-year-old who is learning piano and it turned out that she likes it very much. I did some research among digital "home pianos" before I decided to go for this Casio PX-700. The reason I finally chose it was its fully wighted keyboard feels really great, very close to the real thing. Also its appearance is very nice, perfectly matches my furniture. Its sound is great too, however it seems a little too bright, which makes it sound somehow more electronic than other counterparts. But for less than $700 you can hardly get any better. Also when you press down the right pedal, its sound attenuates a little bit faster than other digital pianos which may make it more suitable for faster musics such as jazz than for slower ones like some classical songs.

5 Star Review I love this piano indeed!

Strengths:

stylish appearance, delicate design, natural feeling of hammer action, and great value for the price

Weaknesses:

small defect--the key-press sound in the lowest part of the keyboard seems a little strange, sounds like mixed with the higher part of the keyboard

Posted Jul 14, 2006 - I have done some in-depth research about the digital pianos now prevail in the market. And I made very difficult decision before I finalized in this model. And I have read several product reviews about the brands of Yamaha and Casio which I am mostly interested in.At last I chose this Casio Privia PX series digital piano for several reasons.First,I find this series provide lower price for a better performance. As I am not an expert, and only learned piano for 2 years.I buy it to practise and learn at my home. And we are not comparing with those pianos much more expensive. But in the range of lower than $1000,it is the most worth buying model.Secondly, among the same series,I prefer this model because it has very particular styling. It is only $100 dollars more expensive than the PX310.However,it has wooden piano body, three pedals, also a flexible key cover, and transparent book stand. And the two small sound boxes in the front make it sound better and also enlarge the bass. And also the control panel has been simplified as to look more like a traditional piano.Thirdly,my friend has bought a Yamaha YDP213,however, when I played on the keyboard,I feel the plastic keys act slow, and make a little unpleasant noise. But this model has very wonderful finger feelings.Maybe there is a small defect that the sound seems not very perfect. The Casio series digital piano has a common feature, that they sound not so classical, but tend to be "pop" or "jazz".Also, the time lapse when pressed is a little brief. It's not good at playing slow melodies. But the higher part performs better than the lower. The sound seems not a big problem to me,as I always cannot differentiate them so finely. To sum up,I think it is a great piano and I love it very much and play it every day.

4 Star Review Casio Privia PX-700

Strengths:

* Key action!! * nice stand * three pedals

Weaknesses:

* keyboard cover sticks * sound is "digital" * body is shaky * stand angle is wrong * pedal function * no pedal hook

Posted Sep 29, 2006 - I am most satisfied with the key action which is just like a real piano: it produces light sounds when I press the key lightly and louder sounds when I press the keys harder. This piano can keep up with very quick trills without failing to produce any sound. I am glad it has a keyboard cover that prevents it from getting dust, but the keyboard cover doesn't move smoothly. The body is not deep, that makes it unstable. So, when I pulled the unsmooth keyboard cover out, the unstable body is also pulled to fall, if I don't support the body. Functions of pedal are good enough, but subtle compared to a real piano. This one doesn't have a hook for the middle pedal and I can't even notice what the middle pedal is doing even when I am pressing it down. The sound is a little bit digital-like. The stylish stand isn't doing anything. The stand angle is so heading backward that when the piano is put against the wall, my sheet music leans against the wall, instead of the stand.

4 Star Review Designer Look - Grand Piano Sound - Keyboard Price

Strengths:

- Beautiful piece of furniture - Grand Piano Sound & Features - Handy Sliding Cover, Record & Replay - 60 songs library including left/right hand on/off

Weaknesses:

- Stand is weak, unit comes forward when closing cover - Heavy hammer keys give some fatique when playing long hours - Limit 11 tones & No background music

Posted Aug 30, 2007 - PX700 is our 2nd Casio Digital Piano, an upgrade from PX100. It is beautiful & space-saving. We love it overall, features is is the medium range in compared with other high-end digital piano. Best of all, the sound is excellent for a digital. The only thing we are not happy is that after you playing for a while, your hands & fingers hurt due to a hard resistance from hammer effect. The feature most people love to have is background music is missing from this unit. Limit 11 tones. If you favor toward sound quality, this is the one. But for features, there are many other Casio models has much better features to offer.
