Picture quality of the A400 is pretty good. 4.1 megapixels is not state of the art, but is more than sufficient. Taking pictures is straightforward point and shoot. Pictures are in-focus, and colors are properly captured. The flash is a bit on the weak side, but fine for most snapshot situations. Shutter lag is noticeable, but not terrible. The zoom function works well, but the zoom button is somewhat awkward.

This is a good camera for beginners. For the price it's worth it. The camera is easy to use and the 4MP is plenty for an average user. Light weight and nice body is a plus.

Got this camera on from a Thanksgiving sale, which of course is good price. The camera is really not bad at all for a starter: easy to use, small size, photo quality is OK. 4.0MP is good enough for average users I think. Only thing is that the LCD is only 1.8", which (to some degree) makes this camera a low-end model.

This camera works very well all the time.Good to use it to take pictures for baby without using the flashlight.What I don't like much is that the memory stick is kind of samll to grab.

I love this camera. It's price is great, takes awsome clear pictures. I'm so glad I didnt go with a pricey model. I heard that 4mp was bad quality, but this camera sure shows those people wrong!

TopI'm not that familiar with all the terms that go along with Digital Photo Processing and the terms used for the camera itself. I have used many digital cameras but it seems that all of them take longer from the time you press the button to take the picture and get the picture... a delay i guess is what I mean. Does this camera take the picture WHEN you press the buttom, or does it delay... I saw a 1-second Shutter lag - is that what that means?

Strengths: Cost effective, Very good for a beginner, good battery life.
Weakness: No Audio for movie, no zoom during movie recording, Problem with auto focus at dim lights, flash is not that great
very Cost effective 4 MP camera for a beginner. Takes good outdoor and indoor photos while average pictures in dim light. Movies(which is audio less) occupy less space. No zoom during video record. Average battery life. Focusing in dim light is problematic due to the absence of a focus-assist lamp.

I have been loyal to fujifilm , but this camera (at least the one I bought) produced hazy and grainy pics. The 303 I owned previously was better even at lower file sizes. Am going to try to return it and upgrade.

TopStrengths: Convenient size, decent optical zoom and tolerable digital zoom. It has also a movie mode-very good.
Weakness: It needs 2 seconds to take a picture; It takes only xD card.
It is a great starter camera. If it offer the sound records under the movie mode that will be perfec. Also xD card is expensive comparing to SD card (most Canon cameras)

Weakness: Needs more memory, buy a card for it if you plan on taking more than 11 pictures at a time.
I got this camera for Christmas from my girlfriend. I actually asked for the cheaper A200 (2.1 mgpxl.) but, she opted for a better one. The quality of the pictures is great. It also has a 3x zoom which is great. The ease of download to pc is also a plus. Battery life as with all cheaper cameras isn't good so just get rechargable ones. It's not a big deal.

overall it is a good camera in the range of price and be the 1st camera for kids. However, its built quilty is cheap and use a flimy plastic cover. For pocket camera, I would like canon SD serier and Fujifilm FinePix F11. Casio Exilim EX is also a good option.

I have had this camera for about a week. It takes fairly sharp pictures and the zoom is decent enough for most shots. From startup to first snap is fairly quick for those times that you need it. The only drawback I can think of is that is takes XD memory card which can be hard to find. Otherwise a nice beginner digital camera

This is a good-quality entry level camera with high resolution. Its price is quite good considering high resolution of 4MB. 3X zoom also works pretty good. Overall Fuji A400 is a cost-effective, good quality, basic camera. But if you need advanced features, there are many other cameras in the market.

Strength:
It's a convenient size. Small but not so small that it is hard to hold.
The controls are relatively easy to figure out when you first get it.
The picture quality is excellent.
The zoom works pretty well.
The menu is pretty clear to understand and easy to operate on.
It comes with batteries and two general AA alkalines can take on for a while.
Weakness:
It takes around 2 seconds to take a picture at the max. resolution. (It may be eliviated by using memory with faster writing speed.)
The screen is small.
The memory format is in XD, which is not very common and is relatively expensive compared to SD.

TopStrengths: Decent resolution 4.1 Mega. The pictures I took can be printed to at least letter-zixe. Full function with excellent CCD. Easy to use.
Weakness: No extra memory and XD is not very common.
I bought it around a monthy ago at a local store and have enjoyed using it to take a lot of pictures. The Fuji A400 is a well-designed camera with a set of refined lens components CCD (for the digitizing detector) and I would surely recommend buying it.

This Fujifilm Finepix A400 Digital camera can be a very good choice for somebody who look for their digital camera under $100. Its size is relatively small, and it takes 2AA batteries, so that it can be am advantage. Only problem is that battery is consumed somewhat quickly.

A good beginner's camera
Strengths: small size, 3x optical zoom
Weakness: None, or using AA batteries
As a beginner's camera, 4M pixel plus 3x optical zoom are decent features. The size is small, 3.7 x 2.4 x 1.1 inches. I can hold it in my hand. It's using 2 AA batteries. Maybe some people think it's good. But I personally prefer rechargeable ones.
