Hit and Miss.
Fast shots, compact design, ease of use.
White spots all over indoor and outdoor night photos, grainy zoom shots, expensive.
Posted Dec 25, 2006 - O.k., why didn't any of the reviewers mention that the flash proximity to the lense causes ghost spots all over any photos taken with the flash? There is even a reference to this in the manual and the user is told this is "normal" and not a malfunction of the camera. Normal to have spots all over indoor and outdoor night photos? Great. This is caused by small specs of dust and lint in the air being reflected back to the lens as a result of the flash being too close to the lens. Sony claims an optical zoom, but if this is the case, why are zoom photos so grainy? I don't buy it. Either it is in fact a crappy digital zoom or something else is amiss with this camera in zoom mode. I researched for weeks before deciding on the Sony, and not once did anyone mention the damn spots all over the flash shots, nor did they mention the grainy "optical" zoom shots. This even though Sony admits to it.
