2.5" LCD - 12x Optical Zoom - 3072 x 2304 Image - 640 x 480 Video - PictBridge - MPN: 1385186
Strengths: THE CAMERA WORKS BEAUTIFULLY. OUT OF THE BOX, WITHOUT READING THE BOOK, I WENT TO A PARTY AND GOT 85 GOOD, IN FOCUS AND PROPERLY EXPOSED PICTURES.
Weakness: SHUTER LAG IS TOO LONG. IT FEELS LIKE AN OLD SLR. THE DOOR FOR THE SHARE AND EXTERNAL POWER IS FLIMSEY
I BOUGHT THE CAMERA BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO CARRY A SLR AND LENSES ANY MORE. I CAN USE MY STROBES INDOORS WITH GOOD RESULTS. THE ADVANCED WORKINGS WILL TAKE SOME WORK FOR ME BUT IT SHOULD WORK OUT FINE. KODAK IS VERY GOOD ABOUT ANSWERING QUESTIONS ON LINE. I THINK THAT THE CAMERA DOES EVERTHING THAT A HEAVIER SLR CAN DO AT A REASONABLE COST.
THE BATTERY TOOK ABOUT 200 FLASH SHOTS BEFORE IT NEEDED TO BE RECHARGED. EVERY MORNING I AM NOW READING ANOTHER PART OF THE MANUEL TO GET FURTHER ALONG. I DON'T LIKE THE KODAK SOFTWEAR. IT IS AIMED AT AMATEURS. IT DOES VERY LITTLE PHOTO CORRECTION AND MUCH SELLING OF KODAK BUT THE EASYSHARE PART IS SIMPLE AND GOOD.EMAILS ARE EASY TO DO BECAUSE THERE IS A "FIND THE PHOTO" BUTTON

The Kodak P712 is part of the so-called 'Megazoom' digital camera class. In fact, this implies nothing more than a compact design and a large zoom range. In the case of the Kodak EasyShare P712, this means 12x optical zoom obtaining a range of 36- 432mm in comparison to a 35 mm camera. The EasyShare P712 isn't the first model with such a concept. Its predecessors, the P850 and P880, are...

As digital SLRs have come down in price, the market for high-end all-in-one cameras has shrunk. - But there's still a place for such models, particularly at the long-zoom end of the market, where the equivalent capability in an SLR system would easily cost you a thousand dollars or more just for the lenses. The new Kodak P712 combines a long image-stabilized 12x zoom lens (reaching out to an...

Kodak P712
Strengths: This is my first Digital Camera. I have found the Zoom to be all that I was looking for in my first camera. People have been amazed at my Moon shots for distance.
Weakness: Buttons too close together. Not much room to hold camera without tripod for tricky shots. I do not have a tripod at this point. But I'm still very new at this.
I personally have recommended it to others who drool at the zoom capability along with the Macro features. My photos: CharleySunshine@webshots demonstrate the zoom and Macro shots. I feel that I got what I wanted without having to carry extra lenses etc.
