This digital camera from Olympus gives you 7.1 megapixels for sharp, high resolution, high-quality photos regardless of print size. Digital image stabilzation provides a fast shutter speed and high ISO sensitivity (including ISO 2500 and 4000) eliminate blurs caused by camera shake or fast moving subjects. Olympus' Bright Capture Technology means low light conditions will not be an issue as you can easily preview you subject on the LCD and get clear, bright images even without flash. You can get close to your subject with a 10 optical zoom and 50x total zoom as well as get creative with a variety of manual options or shoot with ease in automatic mode. The SP-510's TruePic TURBO Image processor produces quick start-up and fast response times between shots while the Perfect Fix feature lets you lighten up shadows, remove red eye, and eliminate blur from your pictures. A Built-in Help Guide provides brief in-camera descriptions to help you select th best settings for every shooting environment. minimize

3 Star Review Olympus SP-510 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera

Strengths:

Tons of features, uses disposable/rechargeable batteries

Weaknesses:

Point and shoot tends to need tweaking or pc corrections.

Posted Apr 29, 2007 - I believe this is a very good camera for the money. I previously had a Sony DSC-S70 camera but wanted more zoom and memory capabilities. Most pictures that I take, I have to retake because of blurriness! There is an image stabilization button but using that produces pixelation in the photo. I just wish that i could point and shoot on auto without having to tweak the settings. There are so many features that you have to take some time to get used to them. Because of this, i have to buy a photography book just to understand what i need to do to make my pictures come out right. My Sony...did not have this problem. This is the most frustrating thing about this camera. Do i think this camera is great? Yes...but not for a novice.

4 Star Review SP-510 Review

Strengths:

- Excellent Optical Zoom - Excellent Mega Pix cell - Good Design - Large LCD - Good features - Better Menu

Weaknesses:

- Manual only in the form of CD (no printed manual) - Missing External Flash - Less mode compare to C730 and C740

Posted Jan 3, 2007 - This is my 3rd Olympus camera. I previously owned D540, C730 and now this. Main reason to purchase this camera is 7 MP with 10X optical zoom with 2.5" LCD screen. Olympus makes one of the best optical zoom camera in the market. Digital Image stabilizer makes operating at high optical range possible but Optical Image Stabilizer would have been nicer. Compare to other camera's with same zoom and mega pix its little less costly. 4 AA batteries which makes your life even easier if you forgot to recharge your battery as u can use any AA batteries. No paper manual makes it hard to use camera features. Overall its an excellent camera.

5 Star Review Great Camera

Strengths:

Just bought this camera. Picture quality is amazing. Olypus did a wonderful job. The digital image stabilization is really helpful if you have trouble keeping the camera still

Weaknesses:

Size is a little to big

Posted Dec 17, 2006 - Overall this camera is definitely worth the money. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone. I will be taking this to many sporting events and the 10x optical zoom will be very helpful

3 Star Review Olympus SP-510 UZ User Review

Strengths:

many new features including great picture editing, easy to use, great looks, excellent battery life. camera program updating via internet link to Olympus web site.

Weaknesses:

main weakness: reset button is manual and has to be used after each manual adjustment....very frustrating. The CC770 reset on power-down if set to on, which was great.

Posted Nov 1, 2006 - My previous camera is a CC770 and this was to be an upgrade...my advice, unless you only want extra scene modes (21) which are great and the lower light shooting capabilities....keep the CC770. I took quite a few identical photos with both cameras and found that in all cases there was very little difference in picture quality even when blown to A4 size and this is comparing an older 4 meg camera to a 7.1meg camera!! I also found that the depth of field focusing on the CC770 was slightly clearer as well! As mentioned in the weaknesses of this camera, I find it quite frustrating to have to remember to go into the menu and manually click the reset icon to "yes" every time a manual change has been made otherwise the camera keeps all the changes on "power down". My CC770 was great in that you could set the reset button to "on" or "off" and this then activated when the camera was powered down. Olympus tells me that from feed back this is what customers have asked for. Personally I find this hard to believe. I am not impressed with the digital stabiliser as it tends to add noise to the picture (grainy). Far better just to take the picture in the "sports" mode with the fast shutter speed, when using the zoom fully extended. Overall though, I am getting to like this camera the more I use it, mainly due to all the extra features, not the picture quality and not the reset button.

5 Star Review Olympus SP-510UZ Digital Camera

Strengths:

Resolution is great. I love the telescopic capability of the camera. Landscapes and vacation pictures are fantastic, yet the camera does well on normal shots.

Weaknesses:

A little large compared to non-zoom cameras.

Posted Jan 6, 2007 - I have used an Olympus digital camera for several years. The camera was very good for quick snap shots but lacked ability for distance shots such as are common on vacation pictures and landscape scenes. The SP-510UZ is excellent for these and I know I will use it with satisfaction in the future.
