At the moment of this review, the price is 100 Euros less than that of the biggest competitor, the EOS 450D. The Nikon D60's 10.2-megapixel image sensor turns out great quality images, made better by the new optically stabilized 18-55mm VR kit lens. Like its predecessors, the Nikon D60 is so easy and fun to use, it's almost immediately become one of the most popular SLRs on the market. Its soft shutter sound speaks quality, and its simple control interface doesn't intimidate. At the same time, sophisticated users will fine plenty of picture-taking control. A sophisticated dust reduction system inside the Nikon D60 further impresses, by blasting a jet of air at the sensor with every shutter release, making it more likely that dust won't plague your images. Posted 1 year ago - If you've ever seen the Nikon D40 (introduced in November 2006) or the Nikon D40x (March 2007), a glance at the D60 may remind you of a Talking Heads song – the size, shape, and overall design are same as it ever was, same as it ever was. Under the hood, though, there are significant improvements, including a a more powerful processor, a kit lens incorporating image-stabilizing VR technology, enhanced in-camera editing, and a two-stage dust reduction system. That said, the new camera inherits some shortcomings from its predecessors, including incompatibility with many existing Nikon lenses and a very small size and shape that's great for portability but clumsy for a manly man's grip (presumably brand spokesperson Ashton Kutcher has delicate hands). The D60 replaces the D40x in Nikon's product lineup, while the D40, a 6.1-megapixel model at $500, remains as the company's lowest-priced digital SLR. The D60 is sold only as a package with the camera body and a 3x zoom AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens, at $750 complete; unlike most SLRs, you can't buy the body on its own. - Read Full Review

DCRP Review: Nikon D60

Posted 1 year ago - The Nikon D60 is an entry-level digital SLR aimed squarely at consumers. It has a friendly interface with numerous help screens, in-camera photo editing, and very vivid color that borders on unrealistic. You also get a dust reduction system, snappy performance, Active D-Lighting, and solid build quality. There are quite a few downsides, though, including a limited selection of autofocus lenses, a small viewfinder, no live view, and poor bundled RAW editing software. The Nikon D60 isn't my favorite entry-level digital SLR -- mainly due to its soft, over-saturated photos -- but it's certainly worth a look.

The former will love its ease of use and vibrant images using automatic settings. The D60 retains the same 10 megapixel sensor, 3 point AF system, 3fps burst mode and external design. New features include an improved dust reduction system, a viewfinder Eye Sensor which automatically turns off the LCD screen, and additional in-camera post-processing options.
