5 Star Review A big bang for the buck

Strengths:

Great photo quality, ease of use, nice look retrospectively, and feature rich.

Weaknesses:

weird controls in preview mode, and the lack of viewfinder.

Posted 1 year ago - This 7.1 mp camera is a big bang for the buck. It's full of features and gives you great photos. This camera didn't disappoint much. You won't have to worry once you are used to the controls.

5 Star Review Great Camera for the price

Strengths:

7.1 Megapixels, 3.4x optical zoom, great picture quality, feature rich, inexpensive, uses AA batteries (in terms of availability and cost effectiveness)

Weaknesses:

no image stability, uses AA batteries (in terms of battery life), no internal memory of its own

Posted 4 months ago - This camera overall is an excellent performer. It is also inexpensive especially coming from a trusted brand like canon. The image quality is jaw-dropping comparing to other similar priced cameras. This camera is a great bang for the buck for people who are in a budget.

4 Star Review Good Canon Powershot A470

Strengths:

good quality

Weaknesses:

battery life short

Posted 1 year ago - We have a Canon Camera, but it's larger and heavier than the Powershot A470. I wanted something small that I could either put in my pocket or bag. This camera fits that description and more. It's easy to set, focus and shoot! The pictures are clear and sharp. Recently though, I downloaded pictures into a digital picture frame. I was disappointed that some of the pictures had dark background and were fuzzy, but I think that it was more fault of the picture frame than the camera. I'm returning the digital frame for a larger one. All-in-all, I love my new camera and highly recommend it for someone who just wants an easy-to-use and carry-around type of camera.

4 Star Review Canon A470 camera

Strengths:

pretty, good price

Weaknesses:

not rechargeable battery

Posted 1 year ago - This Canon A470 looks very pretty. It is 7.1Mp and 2.5 inch LCD, with such a good price. The weakness is that it uses AA battery, instead of rechargeable battery. overall, I like it.

4 Star Review Almost Perfect For A Beginner

Strengths:

Low-cost, Brand-Name, Above-Average Picture Quality for the $, Great Ergonomics, AA Battery Power

Weaknesses:

Not Enough Shooting Modes, Largish, No In-Camera Charging

Posted 1 year ago - It's my first digital camera, so I didn't want to spend too much and/or get too much camera. I was initially attracted to the Canon name in addition to wanting a 2008 model, since the industry updates models 1-2 times/year. I did some online research before making a decision and this model got pretty good reviews for a entry-level. It's on the chunky side (due to it's AA battery power), but with anything smaller I had trouble manipulating the controls, and besides, the controls were very intuitive for me on this one. At 129.99 MSRP some things had to left out, but it could use a few more shooting modes and some type of image stabilization, ect. Even though this is considered a basic camera there is still much to learn as a beginner, but I do think I made a good choice since it's a breeze to learn on and it's confidence building picture quality helps too.
