Posted May 11, 2005 - One of the highly rated and recommended digital cameras in the 4MP category. The pictures are excellent. The video is however slightly blurry. Red eye correction looks great. The auto focus mode is quiet reliable and one can always use the manual if you like.

Posted May 30, 2005 - This point-and-shoot digital camera is a good choice for the novice or intermediate digital photographer. It is extremely easy to use and requires minimal adjustments when used in auto mode. And if you have the ocassional desire to manipulate camera settings, it has a multiple of settings and modes for the most common situaions you may find yourself in. It has a relatively small form factor, but is still easy to hold for people with medium-sized hands. It accepts SD media, which is a plus in my opinion, since it's small yet cheaper than xD cards of sony memory sticks. Unfortunately, the camera does not ship with its own SD card. Another good thing with this camera is that it accepts AA batteries. So you don't have to contend with proprietary battery sources. Just use whatever rechargeable AA battery you have on hand. Max resolution is 4 megapixels, which allows you to get great prints up to 8"x10". Bottomline, it's a great point-and-shoot digital camera. Extremely easy to use, with a lot of extra features for those looking to be a bit more creative.

GOOD CAMERA BUT NEEDS IMPROVEMENTS

Posted Dec 16, 2005 - This camera take good quality pictures but the process is very slow if you want to capture the right moment. In poor light you will get blurry pictures and also the video doesn't have sound. This is a good camera for beginners.

Posted Jun 8, 2005 - This is a great compact point and shoot, with excellent picture quality. It's got plenty of scene modes if you want to get fancier than the "Auto" settings without going fully manual. That works well for me on family vacations while still allowing my wife to use it with ease. However, for a 4MP, I'd love to use an external flash for fill-in. The battery compartment is a bit flimsy, and I worry it will break soon. I've bought several other Coolpix cameras for family members, and have lost the battery compartment on one other, so I know it is a problem. Other than that, the only complaint I have is that it does not come with an SD card, forcing me to go buy one almost immediately.

Posted Apr 26, 2005 - I had a coolpix 3200 for my first camera and I bought 4600 from Officedepot at $180(3200 was $250) after $30 coupon saving last week. At first, it looked like same but different feeling when I gripped it, it is lighter and smaller than 3200. The best thing that I like this is quicker response time and the bigger LCD size(maybe 50% bigger. I'm very satisfied with this tiny one.

Posted May 31, 2005 - This is an excellent camera for not too expensive price. Small and light, easy to carry. The image quality is good also since . The only complaint with this camera is no sound with the movie recorder. I recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for a quality camera.

Great Camera

Posted Jul 7, 2005 - I am always a big fan of Nikon. When I bought this camera, I was wondering how the performance will be. Overall I am happy with the performance of the camera. It took great pics of my 8 months baby. The pre-set options are of great help to take stunning pics. The software is not that great , but its OK. Only problem was the battery life.

Posted Apr 20, 2005 - This is a very handy camera for those who do not want to carry the bulky SLR's. It is capable of generating pictures that can easily be enlarged to a 16x20 size. It is a feature packed camera that rivals some SLR's features all boxed in a point and shoot unit. Having used Minolta X700, Maxxum 7000 and then Nikon N80 as well as Coolpix 8700, I have now become a fan of the Nikons...

Posted Jun 7, 2005 - I wanted a camera that is very easy to use & compact. The Nikon 4600 fits the bill perfectly. The images are very good & the settings are not complicated at all. It uses AA type batteries, which is another plus for me. If you run out or if your existing ones (NiMH) are discharged, you can purchase these almost anywhere. Overall, this is an excellent camera for a bargain price. Highly recommended.

Huh??!!

Posted Dec 27, 2005 - I'm getting nearly 10 seconds between pictures. This is unacceptable. Even at the lowest resolution by the time it has recorded the picture to my SD card too much time has passed.. Like going back to a 56K dial up... I paid under $100 AR and discounts but still I am going to return it. Pay more and don't have buyer regret.

Light, compact & fun

Posted Jul 7, 2005 - Bought this camera during a promotion. Surprisingly light weight. Battery lasts longer than other cameras I have (sony and canon). Picture quality is comparable to other leading brands. My suggestion is : go for it if you like it's appearance and design. It will not fail you!
