Great Product
Size is great, features are nice and the customizability options are a great idea. Eraser is a neat feature along with the two buttons on the pen. Wireless and battery less mouse is great too.
None so far, other than price and it would be nice if they put the pen stand on the side or top of the tablet.
Posted Oct 2, 2006 - Well price aside, if you really want and need a tablet, then I recommend this product. I’m a college student so the price was a factor but I’m very devoted in Design so I went with the Wacom anyway. I love the customization that you are allowed with, with the product. I've changed the programmable buttons for many different applications and even a few games which I play on my pc. Overall I'm very pleased with the tablet and I'm glad that I purchased it. The school said a tablet was needed and so after some research and using pricegrabber to find a reasonable price I went with this tablet eventhough they said all I need is a 6x8 one. I was originally going to go for a smaller size because of obvious price reductions but I'm glad I went with the 9x12 size. I think the other sizes would be too small and limit my productivity and creations. The size also fits well in your lap and with comfort. I love the fact that the supplied USB cable has a good length to it so I can sit back and relax while I use the tablet and I don’t have to be right up close to the monitor. Freedom is one thing I enjoy with this product, the USB cord length, the ability to customize the buttons, on the pen, mouse, tablet itself and the scroll pads. I was surprised about the eraser as well, I found out its function by mistake and I like the eraser. It saves from constantly remembering shortcut keys or having to click the tool icon in Photoshop or Flash. I also use this tablet while modeling in 3D. It is very convenient to have programmable buttons which you can bind actions to for specific programs. So I set buttons to switch from move, select, add modifier, add lighting, create a camera, box, sphere, all the operations in Maya and 3D Studio Max that I repeatedly do. I was so thrilled with the programmable buttons on the tablet that I tried it out on Guild Wars. Now when you play you have to click on eight different skill boxes in order for your character to succeed. I bound each skill to the buttons using the game's shortcut keys of 1-8 with one starting at the left most buttons on the tablet and continuing over to the right most side. It helped me use skills faster and it organized my time and I have more fun playing the game. I also like the innovative mouse as the many buttons help me do many tasks in games and other programs that I use. I like how you can change the action on the mouse's buttons, the pen's buttons and the tablet's buttons. This tablet feels very natural and I love the user friendliness of it. In aspect to the tablet being too big as stated by pengshi, you can change the settings so the monitor is half the tablet size in the control panel, therefore you don’t have to use the entire tablet if you don’t want to. The method of how to change what the buttons do and how to change the screen size was shown from the tutorials from the cd and it was a helpful video. The included software was also a nice touch and helpful. The control panel is very easy to understand and well put together, I had no problems navigating through it. I've heard many great things about Wacom and I'm glad I bought the Wacom Tablet along with getting the 9x12 size and with the added features I couldn’t be happier. Sorry for such a long review.
