V Inc Bravo D1 DVD Player

Strengths: Stellar image through DVI connection, well built machine, swift layer change responce, handles Non Anamorphic DVD's well with the click of a button.

Weakness: Analog outputs are not near as good as DVI, but that's understandable. Remote's not fancy but signal strength is good.

The best way to describe the video quality of the Bravo D1 is smooth and artifact free and as close to HDTV as the DVD format can be. I've done several a/b's with the Bravo versus the best farouja scaling player available. Each time the Bravo will take a dvd that looks poor on the analog machine and make it look stellar, almost like it's adding in missing resolution.

Highly Recommended DVD player!

V Inc Bravo D1 DVD Player

Strengths: Bravo D1 has *DVI* OUTPUT. DVI Makes DVD's look almost Hi Def. Instant customer support by phone or E-Mail. "Custom" 1:1 pixel mapping to match your DVI display device. Very low price.

Weakness: Small buttons on and no backlighting on the remote.

This DVD player is just like most other $300-$400 progressive DVD players with one BIG exception. The Bravo has an all digital output (DVI). If you have a display device that has a DVI in port (HDCP compliant or not) your DVD's will closely challenge a Hi Definition image. I'm not kidding, DVI makes a huge difference. On top of that the Bravo D1 can pixel map 1:1 exactly to match your display device with a "CUSTOM" menu setting... and that's a first for a player at this or any price point.

If your like me you take some of these "reviews" with a grain of salt. So do your homework, checkout what the Audio/Video forums say about this exceptional and inexpensive DVD player. Like ..."Hands down the Bravo D1 has to be the product of the year. ..."Much better picture than my $1200 high end progressive deck" ..."Artifacts are gone, seeing lots more detail in my movies"

V Inc Bravo D1 DVD Player

Strengths: Picture to digital displays thru DVI is stunning. Noise and artifact free. Better than any analog output DVD player I have ever seen, and for only $200. Very fast layer change.

Weakness: Not so hot on analog output. I'd go with another unit if you will never use the DVI capability.

I have a projector & 10' screen, so any noise/picture artifacts are very visible. Prior to this, I was using a non-progressive pioneer (F727) which has decent video performance connected by component cables. Switching to the D1 improved the picture by: 1) Removing very nearly all noise. Picture is dead steady, black borders on wide screen material looked like they were masking except that the "black" was video grey. Still backgrounds looked like projected still photographs on cleaner material (especially digitally originated stuff like Star Wars Ep II, or SpyKidsII). 2) Enabling me to get more contrast out of my projector, IOW black level was darker and white level brighter after recalibrating for this deck. 3)Colors were purer, again a function of reduced noise.

This image improvement is all a result of 2 things: The all digital path removes any digital to analog conversions of the DVD data, and the scaling chipset in this deck is new and top notch, better than the onboard scaling in my projector, which was fairly decent The layer change on this unit is quite good, wel nuder 1/2 second.
Vinc also was very good about replacing my initial unit due to some disk loading problems, the replacement arriving at my door the sixth day after I sent out my original deck.
If you have a large screen HD ready TV or projector, with a DVI input, this is probably the single best improvement you could make to your PJ unless your are already running off an HTPC.
