Panasonic DVD-S29 DVD Player

Strengths:

Plays virtually anything, easy to setup and use

Posted Dec 29, 2005 - I wanted to buy a good DVD player but didn't want to spend a lot of money since the DVD player was going in my study room. Nothing fancy; however, I didn't want to repeat the mistake my neighbor made by going too cheap and then find out it can't read half of the DVD's out there. I was looking for one that could play a variety of different formats, and it had to be a slim-line form factor since it was going into a small area. Armed with those criteria the field quickly narrowed to just a few. I ended up deciding on the Panasonic S29 and am so glad I did. This DVD player is easy to use, is a slim/small form factor, produces an excellent picture, has great sound quality, and the remote is intuitive and is quite easy to use. Best $75 bucks I have spent in a very long time!

Posted Mar 4, 2006 - I just recently purchased a Panasonic plasma HDTV and I had it hooked up to my old DVD player, but I decided to enhance my viewing experience and purchased recommended progressive scan DVD S29S. What a difference! It plays all kinds of formats and the price is right.

Panasonic DVD-S29K DVD Player (Progressive Scan)

Posted Aug 25, 2005 - I was looking for a relatively inexpensive, full-featured DVD player — one that would play all current disc formats, including DVD+R and DVD-R. After trying another new, low-priced brand that ultimately performed poorly on burned disc formats, I switched back to Panasonic, the manufacturer of my TV and old DVD player, and am very happy for having done so. The DVD-S29K performs at a level that exceeded my expectations. It produces a beautiful picture and plays just about everything short of a black vinyl LP — LOL! If you make backups of video on a variety of DVD formats, then you've found the player of your dreams.

Posted Sep 24, 2005 - Wow, for the price this dvd player cannot be beat. The video playback is excellent. I tested it with DVD-R and DVD+R and happy to report it works without a problem. The player is really small also. Compared to the player that I replaced this one is a definite keeper and the fact that it is a name like Panasonic makes it a best buy in my opinion.
