Teach young aspiring musicians to play the piano using video game technology. I Can Play Piano is a piano teaching system that allows kids to quickly and easily master the basics of piano, and have fun doing it. There are easy-to-follow graphics and a musical color-coding system that turn each song into a simple game kids can play using the keyboard. The keyboard features three octaves and can be plugged into your TV or played alone. Includes one software cartridge, "Family Favorites," that features eight popular songs, plus two warm-up games. Requires 6 "D" batteries (not included). For use with other I Can Play Piano software titles, sold separately. Measures 21" x 9" x 2.5". Some assembly required. minimize

3 Star Review I Can Play Piano - Fun Learning Toy

Strengths:

The video game feature, learning while having fun is good. Keep my kids occupied and also building interest in music. It can be played in standalone mode. Various level of learning.Good Graphics

Weaknesses:

Instructions are not adequate enough to teach basics of Piano playing. Needs different cartridges to keep the toy interesting. The AV cables are not long enough, my kids have to seat near the TV.

Posted Feb 29, 2008 - This is a fun learning toy which helped my kids to build interest in music. Don't expect that the toy will help you becoming master in playing piano. First the kids will find it difficult finding the keys as per the color coded screen, but after some practice they will enjoy it. It can be also played in standalone mode. Build quality is average. Over all I am satisfied with the product.

3 Star Review "I can play" is pretty far stretch

Strengths:

Easy to plug in

Weaknesses:

Difficult to play

Posted Feb 10, 2008 - I think this is an advanced product that should be left to an older child who's already had some training. It seems far too difficult for a beginner. It doesn't teach correct fingering and is too fast for learning. It's a fun toy, but I wouldn't recommend it for a learning tool.

2 Star Review Not a Piano Learning System

Strengths:

freestyle keyboard

Weaknesses:

Not a learning system - just a toy

Posted Feb 1, 2008 - I bought this for my 4 year old who is very interested in learning piano. I thought this would be a great product to teach her basic piano skills and save money. The unit wouldn't turn ON, so I exchanged for another unit. She played with it for few days, she tried to play the notes and quickly lost interest. I don't see how any one can learn piano from this. It doesn't teach proper hand positions, nor does it teach notes or how to read music. As a just freestyle keyboard, its okay (which is how she is currently using). Since I got this at throw away price at Walmart, I am keeping it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone as a Piano learning system.

4 Star Review I Can Play piano is just Amazingand very Intuitive

Strengths:

quick music learning. Gives video game feel which makes my son to switch off Tv and play the piano. color coded keys and matching the musical note according to it is very good

Weaknesses:

None so far

Posted Jan 25, 2008 - I can play piano is a wonderful purchase we made this year .we gave this Toy to my 5 yr old son as Christmas gift. He just loves it. There is no forcing like.... going to piano class at specific time etc.....whenever kids want they can just learn music at their own pace. color coded keys are one of the beautiful feature comes with this product. Before going to the BIG piano thing this toy is like quick start guide for kids which will enable them to learn music quickly.Very creative product! we have used this product only for a month or so may b .so we didn't find any notable defects or weaknesses.

2 Star Review A fun toy but no where near "Teaching system"

Strengths:

Fun to play with (for kids)

Weaknesses:

Lack of instruction

Posted Jan 23, 2008 - I did not expect too much when bought this for my kids. It turns out to be a fun toy at least to get their attentions for the first few weeks. However, I did not see how you can learn to play piano out of this. For example, even at the slowest speed, the hand movement can not catch up.

4 Star Review a great toy, but not good for learning

Strengths:

Good toy, fun to play with

Weaknesses:

not good for learning

Posted Jan 10, 2008 - It is a great toy and fun to play with. My daughter really likes it. And I play it too. But she doesn't like to position all the fingers as instructed and enjoying using one finger to hit the key.

4 Star Review Fun to learn

Strengths:

can exchange the disk and kids like to learn with TV

Weaknesses:

too much TV

Posted Jan 8, 2008 - It is fun even to adults who likes to learn how to play piano. However, to learn with TV sometimes is not a good idea for children. Because there is no reaction. We would consider this as an introduction to the music world and see if she will like to learn from a real teacher after. Nice design to children's finger size.

4 Star Review Great Toy

Strengths:

It works with / without TV.

Weaknesses:

Not really

Posted Jan 6, 2008 - This product is amazing. My kid loves this piano very much. He spend most of them playing with the keyboard. I see two benefits from this product. 1) Listening 2) Playing the keyboard with two hands.Overall we all family members love this amazing product.

3 Star Review Not a good learning system

Strengths:

It is a good toy for 5-6 year old kid just for fun.

Weaknesses:

Not a good learning system.

Posted Jan 5, 2008 - This is not a good learning system but it is a good toy for 5-6 year old kid just for fun. They could improve it simply by coming out with a cartridge that contains some instruction on hand position and some simple games to reinforce it.

4 Star Review Great Amazing Toy

Strengths:

Amazing Toy for Kids.

Weaknesses:

If your goal is to have a way for your kids to learn on their own and actually come away with some knowledge, this is not the way to go.

Posted Jan 5, 2008 - This product is amazing. My 4 and 7 year olds can now read music and play the piano. The product teaches the kids to read and play music in an intuitive fashion so that there is no learning stress that so many of us remember from the dreaded piano teacher. We find the kids can now SITE READ music at about a level 2 when they are presented with standard music books on our family's main piano.

4 Star Review Fun Toy

Strengths:

Educational Toy. Seems well made. (economical, for me anyway)

Weaknesses:

requires a TV.

Posted Jan 4, 2008 - Hopefully this is something to get my child interested in music and playing the piano. Appears to be well made, but only time will tell. I am satisfied with this product.

4 Star Review Very good learning toy

Strengths:

lot of fun

Weaknesses:

not really

Posted Dec 26, 2007 - This is a very entertaining toy. It's built in with a lot of functions. Kids like it so much. It's a learning equipment, but kids use it more like toys/games for fun.
