Money 2006 is worth the money

Strengths:

Links easily to online accounts. Intuitive. Lots of "bells and whistles" for home finances analysis.

Weaknesses:

Can get you to use MSN network even if you don't really want to use it.

Posted Mar 11, 2006 - This program makes tracking personal finances very easy. I am keeping track of my checking, savings, investments, loans, and other money related items. I also use internet banking and online accounts to keep all information current. Money really works.

Excellent Personal Accounting Software

Strengths:

Works very well for personal accounting. I can manage my budget, see a graph of my expenses, and it is quite good at matching transactions.

Weaknesses:

It doesn't communicate with my bank. This single problem is quite an annoyance as I have to manually download the logs. It also gets confused with transfers between my accounts.

On the downside, it doesn't communicate directly with my bank. This single problem is quite an annoyance as I have to manually download the logs. It is quite difficult to properly log transfers between my accounts. Overall, it is a great product for a great price (with rebate). It is pretty and makes me feel good about balancing my checkbook.

Posted Mar 22, 2006 - It took me a little while to understand the process, but I am new to managing money on a computer. I tried Quicken a few years back and was disappointed. So far, so good with Money 2006.

Mixed Review. Some things nicer 2004 worked just fine

Strengths:

Better Online banking support than 2004 had.

Weaknesses:

You must set up the internal budget to use the spending tracker bars.

Posted Oct 7, 2005 - I used 2004 and it had a feature called spening tracker wher you could set a spending limit on a category and it would display a horizontal bar shart of the progress for the month toward that limit. This was great given my simplde budget style. in 2006 you must set up Money's full budget to get this feature to work at the sub category level. I would rather stayed with 2004, but MS makes you upgrade every 2 years to keep the online banking feature operational.

Posted Jun 5, 2006 - I find it easier to update and work with transactions than Quicken. Used MS online chat support to solve an installation problem. It was excellent. One negative, you only get two years of portfolio online updates.
